The apocalyptic papacy of Pope Francis continues to afflict us with the perfect fulfillment of all the “promise” of the Second Vatican Council. As this pernicious gathering continues, I have been unable to do other than watch and pray. No point in attempting a play by play review of the dismal proceedings as Rorate has been doing a stellar job so far.
But last night something caught my attention over at Sandro Magister’s. Evidently, the unholy men who placed Bergoglio on the throne of St. Peter knew exactly what they were doing and now they have their fondest desire, a pope in their own image. Here is Magister’s take:
Shortly before the synod, for example, there appeared in Italian bookstores a report on the pastoral activity set up by then-cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio on the outskirts of Buenos Aires:
P. De Robertis, “Le pecore di Bergoglio. Le periferie di Buenos Aires svelano chi è Francesco”, Editrice Missionaria Italiana, Bologna, 2014.
From this one learns that most couples, on the order of 80-85 percent, are not married but simply cohabit, while among spouses “the majority of marriages are invalid, because the people marry when they are immature”, but then don’t even try to get a declaration of nullity from the diocesan tribunals.
It is the “curas villeros,” the priests Bergoglio sent to the outskirts, who provide this information and proudly state that they give everyone communion no matter what, “without raising barricades.”
The outskirts of Buenos Aires are not an isolated case in Latin America. And they give evidence not of a success but if anything of an absence or failure of pastoral care for marriage. On other continents Christian marriage is in the grips of challenges no less grave, from polygamy to forced marriages, from “gender” theory to homosexual “marriages.”
In the face of such a challenge this synod and the next will decide if the appropriate response will be that of opening a loophole for divorce or of restoring to indissoluble Catholic marriage all of its alternative and revolutionary power and beauty.”
The above is fairly clear evidence that to any Bishop or Cardinal who has a functioning brain, Bergoglio was known for what he was before he was elected. Of course, when Rorate pointed out what a disaster this was, they were roundly condemned by “faithful” Catholics, who seem to be determined to blindly follow the professional Catholic media even if it means the total betrayal of Catholic dogma. Mark Shea reassures everyone that “All is well” and that settles the matter.
The problem with this is that it deprives Catholics of the opportunity to stand with our Blessed Mother at the foot of the Cross at this fateful moment in history. Right now, right now in Rome, at the Vatican, the Vicar of Christ, our Holy Father Pope Francis is attempting what no previous Pope has ever done. In his determination to sever doctrine from practice, and mercy from justice, he is betraying his true role which is to safeguard and pass on the sacred truths of the Holy, Roman Catholic Faith. Thus, he is betraying Our Lord Jesus Christ Himself.
There is simply no way that this can be happening if the Pope and his Prelates practiced the Faith. If they prayed the Rosary as Our Lady asked, even only a 5 decade rosary, at least 2 days a week they would be praying the Sorrowful Mysteries. It is impossible, utterly impossible to pray those mysteries and not grow in the love of Jesus, impossible not to grasp His suffering at our sins, especially at our indifference to His sweet and merciful love for us. It is impossible to avoid feeling a deep contrition for our sins and a deep commitment to reforming our lives and making reparation for our sins and the sins of others. In fact, praying the Sorrowful Mysteries will, in and of itself, if one only does them with Mary’s help (generously given if we but ask), will definitely cause us to despise the Novus Ordo and seek out the true Mass of all times. I know this from personal experience and that of many others who have shared their experience with me.
All of this miserable mess of Pope Francis making could have been averted had only Our Lady of Fatima’s commands been heeded. And this will not end until we do, one way or another, learn to obey and turn from our complacency to repentance.
If we turn to Mary now, she will take us to the foot of the Cross and there we will find comfort. Severe, stark comfort, the comfort of Jesus pouring out His life for ungrateful and indifferent men. But this is our part now. For 2,000 years Catholics have considered the mysteries of the Passion and death of Our Savior and wondered what they would have done had they had the opportunity. Well, here it is. At this moment, we can stand with Mary at the foot of the Cross, or we can heed the Sheas of the media and go on about our business, ignoring the Passion and Death of Christ’s Mystical Body.
At Calvary, of the Apostles, only one gave witness to the awful truth that our King wears a crown of thorns. Yes, He loves us, even to dying an ignominious death. We will stay and see Mary hold Him in her arms, see them lay Him in the tomb. We see now the wicked rejoicing as they see our Pope and hierarchy “mercifully” welcome unrepentant sinners to the Bridegroom’s Feast while casting out the faithful. We know how it ends and we, for the moment simply watch and pray.
