Pray for the Synod on Marriage and the Family

Today is one of those beautiful blue Fall days that blesses northeast Florida only a few times a year. The air is crisp and cool, so unlike Florida’s normal muggy “armpit weather”. But lest our natural optimism get away with us, Father Carota over at his wonderful blog, Traditional Catholic Priest has this reminder that the faith is almost certainly in danger. Here is his post in its entirety.

Pray For Progressive Extraordinary Synod Of Bishops On The “Family” At Vatican Oct. 5-19

Posted on October 4, 2014
The old adage; “Have your cake and eat it too” is what we are seeing more and more in the Catholic Church. Church leaders and people want to be Catholics and yet not obey the Bible or the 2000 years teaching.

It never works. Chasing after the worldly ways to be popular did not work in Holland with the Dutch Catechism. The “New Catechism” was published in Holland “De Nieuwe Katechismus“, in 1966. The progressive Dutch bishops thought that if they watered down Catholic teaching the Church would improve in Holland. The opposite happened. There are very very few Catholics who attend mass there anymore and most are either extreme liberals or faithful old people. You can read the Vatican’s critique of the New Catechism here.

So using pastoral mercy to accept divorced and remarried people and homosexual parents who have children, will not help the world or the Church. Jesus says a very clear NO to divorce, adultery and fornication.

“Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for any cause? Who answering, said to them: Have ye not read, that he who made man from the beginning, Made them male and female? And he said: For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and they two shall be in one flesh. Therefore now they are not two, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let no man put asunder.” Matthew 19: 3-6.

In many parts of Africa Polygamy (a man has many wives) is practiced. Before that person can become Catholic he must be married to only one of his wives. Should he be allowed to have all of his wives and still become Catholic?

St. Paul makes it very clear too. “Know you not that the unjust shall not possess the kingdom of God? Do not err: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, Nor the effeminate, nor liers with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor railers, nor extortioners, shall possess the kingdom of God.” 1 Cor. 6: 9-10

As to homosexual families, St. Paul writes:

“For this cause God delivered them up to shameful affections. For their women have changed the natural use into that use which is against nature. And, in like manner, the men also, leaving the natural use of the women, have burned in their lusts one towards another, men with men working that which is filthy, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was due to their error. And as they liked not to have God in their knowledge, God delivered them up to a reprobate sense, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all iniquity, malice, fornication, avarice, wickedness, full of envy, murder, contention, deceit, malignity, whisperers, Detractors, hateful to God, contumelious, proud, haughty, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Foolish, dissolute, without affection, without fidelity, without mercy. Who, having known the justice of God, did not understand that they who do such things, are worthy of death; and not only they that do them, but they also that consent to them that do them. Romans 1: 26-32.

This last sentence: “not only they that do them, but they also that consent to them that do them” applies to the pope, cardinals, bishops, religious, priests, parents and friends who consent to homosexual activity as a pastoral way of loving homosexuals. Love them by telling them they are in sin and their eternal souls in danger of the everlasting flames of hell. Homosexuals from all over the world have gathered in Rome.

“LGBT” Catholic activists from Ukraine, Belarus, Estonia, Poland, Romania, Moldova, Portugal, the US, Chile, Switzerland, France, Germany, Denmark, Finland and Russia, Italy and Britain are expected to participate in a series of conference, forums and press gatherings sponsored by a wide array of well-funded international organisations, including the European Union.” Life Site

The vatican is being very secretive about the Extraordinary synod. The Vatican press office said that information will be limited and speakers names will not to be made known.

I believe that what we are seeing with Pope Francis and all of his cohort, is the complete fulness, total consistency with Vatican II. I am old enough (71 years!) to remember what the Church used to teach and I remember what a U-Turn Vatican II was. While the Novus Ordo and many other of the changes were being implemented, the popes and other hierarchy often made many statements that affirmed orthodoxy. The conflict between what was being done, i.e., pastoral practice, and what was being affirmed, i.e., doctrine, caused a chaos and confusion among the faithful. This resulted in a deep rift between those of us who kept trying to call attention to the heterodox practices in the liturgy and those who were just as adamant in trumpeting the orthodox statements of the popes. When I would point out the serious offenses of Pope John Paul II’s Assisi meetings, I was always shouted down by those who spoke of the “saintly” Pope’s devotion to the Rosary, for instance.

Now, however, we have been blessed, — for God blesses us in all that happens, if we will but hold firm to Him! — blessed with a Pope at last who is so thoroughly imbued with the modernist heresy of Vatican II that he cannot possibly give anything other than a thorough-going modernist slant to his every utterance.  There is no way possible to misunderstand his utter disdain for those of us who still doggedly affirm that which has always and everywhere been the unchangeable, absolute fulness of the deposit of Faith.

In this secretive Synod then, let the Bishop of Rome have his say. Let Kasper and Danneels and Maradiaga and all their ilk do as they like. For our part, we will pray our rosaries and trust in the Immaculate Heart of our Blessed Mother, the Mother of God and Queen of the Holy Roman Catholic Church that God’s will be done once again in the Church.

May the merciful and most pure Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ bless our Holy Father, the Pope, the Vicar of Christ.

Mary, help of Christians, pray for us all.

Sweet Heart of Mary, Queen of the Holy Rosary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
