From John Vennari comes this little parody. I’m sure you’ll recognize the tune. In these crazy times, we have to laugh to keep from crying.
Well, that was fun! We all know that we’re in for a rough ride between now and the Synod of 2015, “The Synod to end all Synods”, it has been called. Even though the Pope seems to be more careful in his off-the-cuff verbosity these days, his followers among the clergy are eagerly plunging in. Blasé Cupich is now imitating Pope Francis by refusing to live in the historic Bishop’s mansion in Chicago, and the ever affable Cardinal Sean, as he prefers to be called, has passed judgement on Our Lord Himself by affirming that if he were starting a church, he sure wouldn’t discriminate against women as Jesus apparently did. Now, that is humility in the true style of Francis himself, much more humble than Christ!
And so it goes…
First Saturday of December is coming up, followed by the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, December 8. Please, if you possibly can, make your First Saturday. It is a tough sacrifice, but these are times for tough Catholics! This December 8, Our Lady’s beautiful feast day, is a rare occasion, which presents us with the opportunity to attend Mass on First Friday for reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, First Saturday for reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Sunday, and then celebrate her feast day on Monday, which is a glorious opportunity after 4 days of Masses, to re-consecrate yourself to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This is truly a time of unparalleled blessings as Our Blessed Mother nourishes her children with every imaginable grace in such a generous profusion.
Even if you have not had the time to prepare fully for the Total Consecration, please consider simply making your Consecration from your heart anyway. The first time I tried to go through St. Louis de Montfort’s program, everything that could possibly happen, happened to interfere and when the time came, I realized I could not even attend the ceremony at our parish church. I was so disappointed, but then after pouring out my heart in prayer to our Blessed Mother, I just decided to do the consecration myself after confession and Mass and Holy Communion, and tried to keep her close in my heart all that day. Since then, I have never stopped trying, day by day to keep close to her although my frequent failings have often made me wish to cringe from her in shame. But that would be to imply that my sins were greater than her mercy and that is foolish indeed!
So go, make your consecration, all you need is the intention, just turn to her for the rest, and you will be amazed at her tender love!
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy Kingdom come!
Immaculate Heart of Mary, be Queen of my heart!
St. Joseph, terror of demons, protect me and our family!
