As soon as I am able, will have new posts, but for now, a repost because this topic is even more appropriate than when it was written a year ago.
Have you ever wondered why the Queen of Heaven chose the rural backwater of Fatima, Portugal to make her appearance in 1917? Does the name Fatima remind you of anything? Now that Islam is daily slaughtering Christians in the name of their false god, it may profit us to look into these things a bit further.
In 1952, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen published a book, “The World’s First Love, Mary, the Mother of God”. The book was a tour de force of devotion to Our Lady, especially Our Lady of Fatima. The Servant of God devoted the entire 17th Chapter of his book to, “Mary and the Moslems”, for so they were called then. This book is in the public domain as all Catholic spiritual writing should be, and is available for free from www.archive.org. That site offers the book in a variety of formats, including pdf, Kindle and iBook. I offer these excerpts from the 17th Chapter with my comments for your review to facilitate the discussion and awareness of Our Lady of Fatima’s importance in this ongoing chastisement.
“At the present time, the hatred of the Moslem countries against the West is becoming a hatred against Christianity itself. Although the statesmen have not yet taken it into account, there is still grave danger that the temporal power of Islam may return and, with it, the menace that it may shake off a West which has ceased to be Christian, and affirm itself as a great anti-Christian world power. Moslem writers say, “When the locust swarms darken vast countries, they bear on their wings these Arabic words: *We are God’s host, each of us has ninety-nine eggs, and if we had a hundred, we should lay waste the world with all that is in it.”
Regarding locusts, see Apocalypse Chapter 9, verse 3 and verses 7-11:
“And from the smoke of the pit there came out locusts upon the earth. …And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle: and on their heads were, as it were, crowns like gold: and their faces were as the faces of men. And they had hair as the hair of women; and their teeth were as lions: And they had breastplates as breastplates of iron, and the noise of their wings was as the noise of chariots and many horses running to battle. And they had tails like to scorpions, and there were stings in their tails; and their power was to hurt men five months. And they had over them a king, the angel of the bottomless pit; whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek Apollyon; in Latin Exterminans.”
Continuing from Archbishop Sheen,
The Koran, which is the bible of the Moslems, has many passages concerning the Blessed Virgin. First of all, the Koran believes in her Immaculate Conception and, also, in her Virgin Birth. The third chapter of the Koran places the history of Mary’s family in a genealogy which goes back through Abraham, Noah, and Adam. … The Koran has also verses on the Annunciation, Visitation, and Nativity. Angels are pictured as accompanying the Blessed Mother and saying: “Oh, Mary, God has chosen you and purified you, and elected you above all the women of the earth.” In the nineteenth chapter of the Koran there are forty-one verses on Jesus and Mary. There is such a strong defense of the virginity of Mary here that the Koran, in the fourth book, attributes the condemnation of the Jews to their monstrous calumny against the Virgin Mary.
Mary, then, is for the Moslems the true Sayyida, or Lady. The only possible serious rival to her in their creed would be Fatima, the daughter of Mohammed himself. But after the death of Fatima, Mohammed wrote: “Thou shalt be the most blessed of all the women in Paradise, after Mary” In a variant of the text, Fatima is made to say: “I surpass all the women, except Mary.”
Archbishop Sheen then explains the significance of Mary’s choice of Fatima for her apparitions.
“This brings us to our second point, namely, why the Blessed Mother, in this twentieth century, should have revealed herself in the insignificant little village of Fatima, so that to all future generations she would be known as ‘Our Lady of Fatima’. Since nothing ever happens out of heaven except with a finesse of all details, I believe that the Blessed Virgin chose to be known as ‘Our Lady of Fatima’ as a pledge and a sign of hope to the Moslem people, and as an assurance that they, who show her so much respect, will one day accept her Divine Son, too.
“Evidence to support these views is found in the historical fact that the Moslems occupied Portugal for centuries. At the time when they were finally driven out, the last Moslem chief had a beautiful daughter by the name of Fatima. A Catholic boy fell in love with her, and for him she not only stayed behind when the Moslems left, but even embraced the faith. The young husband was so much in love with her that he changed the name of the town where he lived to Fatima. Thus, the very place where Our Lady appeared in 1917 bears a historical connection to Fatima, the daughter of Mohammed.”
It seems obvious to me that since the Church, in the person of her Popes, chose to disobey the requests of Our Lady of Fatima, among the chastisements would be the swarming locusts of Muslim terrorists plaguing Christians today. It also seems self evident that these Chastisements which are spiritual cannot effectively be fought by merely secular means, such as citing “religious liberty” and “freedom of speech”. Other writers have mentioned that Islam seems to be a chastisement for the vulgarity and impurity of the post-Christian West; its exaggerated emphasis on modesty for instance appears a twisted perversion of true Christian modesty, perhaps to point up the loss of true modesty of Catholic women in the modernist church. Jacinta, the youngest of the Fatima children, spoke of sins of impurity as causing so many souls to be lost.
Another point to be made is that the very word, islam, means submission. There can be no doubt that muslims are submissive to their false faith, unlike most Catholics. Even Pope Francis refuses to genuflect for Christ. If only all traditional Catholics would observe total consecration to the Immaculata, that obedient submission would, in and of itself, be enough to stop the islamic terrorists and cleanse the Church. Submission to the false gods of islam and modernism can only be counteracted by submission to the Triune God of the true Faith. And Mary is God’s own Mediatrix for these times. This battle can only be won by Our Lady of Fatima, the Immaculata.
Another proof of the relevance of Our Lady of Fatima to the Muslims given by Archbishop Sheen is their response to the Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady of Fatima as it progressed through Muslim lands.
“The final evidence of the relationship of Fatima to the Moslems is the enthusiastic reception which the Moslems in Africa and India and elsewhere gave to the Pilgrim statue o£ Our Lady of Fatima, as mentioned earlier. Moslems attended the Church services in honor of Our Lady; they allowed religious processions and even prayers before their mosques; and in Mozambique the Moslems, who were unconverted, began to be Christian as soon as the statue of Our Lady of Fatima was erected.”
Archbishop Sheen assures us that, “In any apologetic endeavor, it is always best to start with that which people already accept. Because the Moslems have a devotion to Mary, our missionaries should be satisfied merely to expand and to develop that devotion, with the full realization that Our Blessed Lady will carry the Moslems the rest of the way to her Divine Son.”
In an earlier chapter in the same book, his Excellency remarks on the astonishing effect the Pilgrim Virgin statue has had on the Hindu and Moslem lands where it was brought. Now, we must take note of the fact that all this “solemn nonsense” of proselytizing, in the words of Pope Francis, has stopped since the wondrous “Springtime of Vatican II”. Could the halting of devotion to the message of Fatima have possibly had some effect on the ever-increasing anti-Christian sentiment among Islamists? What do you think?
Our Lady told the children of Fatima that she would return a 7th time. It is likely that this will be to reacquaint the invading Islamic hordes with her power, the power to cast out satan and all his hateful works and pomps. Think about it.
Continue to pray the rosary for the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary through the Consecration of Russia.
O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us now and at the hour of our death.
Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us.
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.
