Happy Thanksgiving

We are to give thanks to God in all things, and so this year, as we consider the past year, we think of the current pontiff, and give thanks to God, for Pope Francis, bless his heart, is alerting Catholics by his constant scandals to the faith. Like a loud and bumbling burglar who wakes the household, he is awakening many sleeping Catholics. At the present time, he is our cross to bear, let’s give glory to God as we offer up this cross and pray to Our Lady of the Rosary, the Immaculata, to restore the faith once again. Thanks be to God!

Let us give thanks to God in all things!

Let us give thanks to God in all things!

For all creation serves God, and even those who oppose His will cannot help but be a part of His eventual glory. The Eternal, glorious Light that shines in the darkness will not be overcome by the children of darkness. Indeed, It will shine forth more glorious than ever. Thanks be to God!

Let us give thanks to God in all things

Even though Thanksgiving is a secular holiday, it is an excellent opportunity to gather with friends and family and honor God in thanksgiving for the victory our Lord Jesus Christ has already won, which will be made manifest in due time.

The Benedicite, Song of the Three Children

O all ye works of the Lord, bless ye the Lord: Praise and exalt Him above all forever.
O ye Angels of the Lord, bless ye the Lord: Bless the Lord, ye heavens.
O all ye waters that are above the heavens, bless ye the Lord: Bless the Lord all ye powers of the Lord.
O ye sun and moon, bless ye the Lord: Bless the Lord, ye stars of heaven.
O all ye showers and dew, bless ye the Lord: Bless the Lord, all ye spirits of God.
O ye fire and heat, bless ye the Lord: Bless the Lord, ye winter and summer.
O ye dews and hoarfrost, bless ye the Lord: Bless the Lord, ye frost and cold.
O ye ice and snow, bless ye the Lord: Bless the Lord, ye nights and days.
O ye light and darkness, bless ye the Lord: Bless the Lord, ye lightnings and clouds.
O let the earth bless the Lord: Let it praise and exalt Him above all, forever.
O ye mountains and hills, bless ye the Lord: Bless the Lord, all things that spring forth upon the earth.
O ye fountains, bless ye the Lord: Bless the Lord, ye seas and floods.
O ye whales and all that move in the waters, bless ye the Lord: Bless the Lord, all ye fowls of the air.
O ye beasts and cattle, bless ye the Lord: Bless the Lord, ye sons of men.
Let Israel bless the Lord: Let him praise and exalt Him above all forever.
O ye priests of the Lord, bless ye the Lord: Bless the Lord, ye servants of the Lord.
O ye spirits and souls of the just, bless ye the Lord: Bless the Lord, all ye that are holy and humble of heart.
O Ananias, Azarias, Misael, bless ye the Lord: Praise and exalt Him above all forever.
Let us bless the Father, and the Son, with the Holy Ghost: Let us praise and exalt Him above all forever.
Blessed art Thou, O Lord, in the firmament of heaven: Worthy to be praised, and glorious, and exalted above all forever.

(Daniel 3, from Lauds, Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary)

Antiphon: Thou, O Daughter, art blessed of the Lord: For through thee we have been made partakers of the fruit of life.
Antiphon: Thou art fair and comely, O Daughter of Jerusalem: Terrible as an army set in array.

Take heart and rejoice in God, for He is with us always!

Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of our hearts, Mother of the Church, do thou offer to the Eternal Father the Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, for the conversion of poor sinners, especially our Pontiff.

Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us, pray for the Pope!

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy Kingdom come! Viva Cristo Rey!

St. Joseph, guardian of the Holy Family, protect our families, protect our priests!

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle!

Vouchsafe that I may praise thee, O Sacred Virgin! Give me strength against thine enemies!

  1. Already, a misunderstanding.
A very kind reader interpreted my words about how, “Our Lady could stop this harrassment”, as my calling Our Lady to “vanquish my attacker.” Not at all, although it is perfectly permissable to ask God to save us from our enemies, as most of the psalms are replete with the beseiged begging to be spared from their enemies. “Turn back the evil upon my oppressor”.

My intention was merely to point out that it is always within God’s (and by His will, Our Lady’s) power to relieve us of our crosses, but He allows them for us to become formed in His will and not our own.

Also, someone remarked that she was unaware of Our Lady of Lourdes silencing the devil. It is in most narratives of the appearances, horrid growling from a nearby cave, silenced at a look from Our Lady.

There may not be any more responses to comments, it is our Thanksgiving as well, and my family awaits me.

Thank you for your patience. Happy Thanksgiving, wherever you are, it is always a good time to give thanks to God and bless His Holy Name!

  2. I give thanks to God for Evensong, by opening herself to all the world (via these postings) and enduring the suffering because of it. I thank you for the charitable reference to Pope Francis, (bless his heart 🙂 and for helping me to think.

    • Thank you so much, Nancy. Hope you have a very happy Thanksgiving!
I’m always so happy that all the family still likes my cooking!
May God be with you always and our Lady keep you close.
