“I have asked Msgr. Fellay not to delay his acceptance any longer, and I trust in Providence, though it is not possible to have 100% certainty”“It is my great wish that the SSPX might be recognized and established within the regular structure of the Church as soon as possible, and this will be for the benefit of all, for them and for us. Actually it will be a new force in this great battle for the purity of the Faith”“I have told Msgr. Fellay: “Monsignor, we need your presence to join together with all of the good forces in the Church to achieve this union.”
Since reading this, I have been wondering why Bishop Schneider would publicly address this issue, which really only needs to be discussed by the parties concerned, that is, by the Pope, his representatives and Bishop Fellay and his team.
It is easy to understand why Bp. Schneider would speak privately with Bp. Fellay about accepting an offer, but why is Bp Schneider pushing his point in the public forum?
What do you think? It’s almost as if he thinks that the Society’s negotiations with Rome should be settled in the court of public opinion. And yet we know this cannot be so. The Church is not a democracy. It is not as if the various newspapers and blogs will take a vote on the matter. Oh wait, didn’t some blog actually take a vote on whether the Society should accept an offer from Rome?
Poll open for 7 days: – If Francis offers a Prelature to Society of St Pius X (SSPX), should they accept it? (7 Sept 2016)
When I do a quick search online, I cannot for the life of me find where Bishop Schneider has been calling for Catholics to support the Society of Saint Pius X in their new Rosary and Reparation Crusade in which they also call for the essential First Saturdays. It’s probably just an oversight on my part.
Bishop Fellay and the priests of the Society are preaching and also they are practicing, the prayer and penance called for by Our Lady of Fatima for the Church. In this, they are following the example left to them by their founder, Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre. The Society thus demonstrates that they are aware that Our Lady is the one to whom the future of the Church is entrusted in this crisis.
Wouldn’t it be lovely if Bishop Athanasius Schneider would publicly join with the Society of St. Pius X in promoting the Rosary Crusade and in fact, the entire message of Our Lady of Fatima!
That would actually be something worth taking into the public forum, wouldn’t it!
Let’s pray for his Excellency to do just that.
But let’s not take a vote on it!
