Abide in My Love 2018

After instituting the Sacrament of His Love on Holy Thursday, Our Lord commanded His Apostles, and by them, us,

“Abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you shall abide in My love … This is My commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you”.

In Anne Catherine Emmerich, The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ. (TAN Books) In Section III, Chapter 1, she recounts the following prophecy which was part of the agonies experienced by Our Lord in the Garden of Olives.

After describing satan and his legions attacking Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Garden, and the multitude of men, who appeared as though blinded, who attacked Our Lord, Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich related,

Betrayed with a kiss …

“it was made known to me that these apparitions were all those persons who in divers ways insult and outrage Jesus, really and truly present in the Holy Sacrament. I recognised among them all those who in any way profane the Blessed Eucharist. I beheld with horror all the outrages thus offered to Our Lord, whether by neglect, irreverence, and omission of what was due to Him; by open contempt, abuse, and the most awful sacrileges …

After a bit more describing the offenses to Our Lord in His Sacrament of Love, Blessed Anne says,

“I saw many others in which worldly, tasteless, unsuitable ornaments had replaced the magnificent adornments of a more pious age. I saw that often, the poorest of men were better lodged in their cottages than the Master of heaven and earth in His churches. Ah, how deeply did the inhospitality of men grieve Jesus, who had given Himself to them to be their Food! … In consequence of all this, I saw the weak scandalized, the Adorable Sacrament profaned, the churches deserted and the priests despised. This state of impurity and negligence extended even to the souls of the faithful, who left the tabernacle of their hearts unprepared and uncleansed when Jesus was about to enter them, exactly the same as they left His tabernacle on the altar. …

“I saw irreverent Christians, sacrilegious priests, crowds of tepid and unworthy communicants, wicked soldiers profaning the holy vessels, and servants of the devil making use of the Holy Eucharist in the frightful mysteries of hellish worship. Among these bands, I saw a great number of theologians, who had been drawn into heresy by their sins, attacking Jesus in the Holy Sacrament of His Church, and snatching out of His Heart, by their seductive words, a number of souls for whom He had shed His blood.”

From the Cross, He gives us His example, as He prayed for those who brutally crucified Him, and still crucify Him today,

“Father forgive them, for they know not what they do”. He still commands us, “Abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you shall abide in My love … This is My commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you”.

How do we abide in the love of our Savior?  If we are called to love others has He has first loved us, what would that love look like?   As we think back to His Passion, we see that He  accepted the blows, the whips, the anger, hatred, humiliation and returned for it forgiveness “Father Forgive them…”, and extended His love generously, “This day thou shalt be with me in Paradise.”

As Saint Jacinta never tired of saying, “Pray for the Holy Father”. Yes, I know, every time we think of the foul mess in Bergoglio’s Vatican, the last thing that comes to mind is to pray for him and his ilk. But we have been given a task and it is to pray for sinners, “especially those most in need of mercy”; can you doubt that our poor unholiest of Holy Fathers fits that description? And so, pray! Pray for them all! Pray for us all!

An important part of the message of Fatima (mostly ignored by the hierarchy) is the words of Our Lord to Sister Lucia in subsequent communications; and in February, 1943, Our Lord assured Sister Lucia that,

“The penance that I request and require now is the sacrifice demanded of everybody by the accomplishment of his own duty and the observance of My law.”

Sister Lucia explained further,

“Here is the true penance which the Good Lord requests today: the sacrifice which everybody must impose on himself to lead a life of justice in the observance of His law. And He desires that this way be clearly made known to souls, for many give to the word “penance” the sense of great austerities, and as they feel neither the strength nor the generosity for that, they get discouraged and let themselves go into a life of lukewarmness and sin.”

Readers, this is the love He asks of us. In this age of diminished expectations, He simply begs us to love Him, take time to love His Sacred Heart, adore His most Holy Face, simply be with Him in His crucifixion.  Abide with Him, make room in our busy lives to quietly be with Him. We do this by turning away from the things that lead us to temptation, especially the internet, which, when used to feed our voracious curiosity is often the cause of distractions in our prayers.

Our Lady’s Rosary is the quickest possible way to loving Our Lord. I don’t believe that someone who consistently prays the Rosary daily can possibly fail to develop a deep and sure love for Our Lord.  The errors in the Church today have arisen from the indifference of the clergy, especially of the hierarchy towards this simple devotion. Proud minds cannot abide it!

Dear readers, you see the same signs as I do and are much more likely than I am to experience first hand the crass vulgarity, the just plain ugly hatefulness of this progressive liberal utopia engendered by the proud humanists of our day. You know this cannot continue in this way.  Please consider using every means at your disposal to serve Our Lord in all your thoughts, words and actions.  Use Our Lady’s Rosary for what it is intended for – not to console yourself the way some people lull themselves with various chaplets, especially the “Divine Mercy”,  but use it as Our Lady taught us: the share the thoughts of her Immaculate Heart- all those beautiful mysteries of her Heart! She will teach us how to love Him as we ought, how to abide in His love.

And this is our sure way, the path which will lead us through the coming harrowing chastisement safely home, where we belong – and all of our loved ones – whom He has loved first – with us.

Take up your beads and get to work!

Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of our hearts, Mother of the Church, do thou offer to the Eternal Father the Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, for the conversion of poor sinners, especially our Pontiff.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy kingdom come! Viva Cristo Rey!
Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death.
St. Joseph, protect us, protect our families, protect our priests.
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.

Please pray for the Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary!

~ by evensong for love of the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary and the most Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King.

Vouchsafe that I may praise thee, O Sacred Virgin, give me strength against thine enemies!

      Thank you.
That was not evensong’s mistake but mine
I have a rather severe tremor and typing mistakes are common for me.
I overlooked that but have corrected it.
      God bless you.

Thank you for the quotes from Blessed Sr. Emmerich. And thank you for continuing this blog – it is very helpful when I get discouraged and also helps me keep perspective.
