Fatima, Akita and the Chastisement, II

Please, if you haven’t already, be sure to read Dr. Roberto de Mattei’s article on Rorate Caeli here..
It is an excellent synopsis of  the Message of Fatima placed within its historical context. Hopefully, many will read it, and I also will post more soon.

As requested, a repost::

In our previous post, we briefly outlined the Blessed Virgin Mary’s appearances at Fatima on October 13, 1917 and at Akita on October 13, 1973. Today we consider the meanings behind the rich symbols of these two visits from the Queen of Heaven.

Who is she that cometh forth as the morning rising, fair as the moon, bright as the sun, terrible as an army set in array?
. Grant that I may praise thee, O Sacred Virgin, give me strength against thy enemies!

The Rosary, Foremost Message of Fatima and Akita

In both, our Blessed Mother called us to the Rosary. In fact, at Fatima, she identified herself as Our Lady of the Rosary, the name by which she calls her children to pray to her. And at each visit to Fatima, she requested the daily Rosary. In her last appearance at Akita, Oct. 13, 1973, Our Lady stressed the importance of the Rosary, saying,

“The only arms which will remain for you will be the Rosary and the Sign left by my Son. Each day recite the prayers of the Rosary. With the Rosary, pray for the Pope, the bishops and the priests.”

Dear Readers, this is urgent! Never before have we needed the Rosary as we do now – and yet never before has the Church been so resistant. False devotions, distractions, have been allowed to detract from the Rosary. For your salvation and the salvation of those entrusted to you:

Please commit to Our Lady right now, to pray the traditional Rosary, that is the Rosary as it existed when she requested it at Fatima and Akita, and as she confirmed to us with the beautiful visions of the little shepherds of Fatima on October 13, 1917. That is,  the Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious Mysteries plus the Fatima Decade Prayer.

Each day, live and pray all these mysteries of Our Lady’s Rosary. Do not get sidetracked by other devotions, no matter how much appeal they may have for you. Her children must serve her by obedience!

I love the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary, but if obligations cause me to cut back some devotions, I omit a bit of this beautiful Office, rather than cut back on my quiet time with Our Lady or her Rosary. For that is truly our lifeline to Mary, by which she channels grace and healing to this poor suffering world. Despite what Pope Francis tells us, the greatest evil is not inequality, it is sin. Yes, there is no greater evil than sin.

Poverty, pain, horrid death, no, none of these is the true evil, for sin is the origin of all suffering. Sin alone is the greatest evil. The Immaculata’s active purity – for it is not some passive quality – some lack, no,  the Purity of the Immaculata is the most powerful force against sin and suffering.  God has decreed that it is through her Immaculate Heart that we receive the graces essential for our salvation, for she is mediatrix of all graces. The modernist Church rejects this truth to its own damnation.

By our Rosaries, we combat the filth invading the Church. This filth is not only the human, physical filth of the unnatural lusts consuming these poor sick priests and prelates, it is the spiritual filth of their perverted faith, for they have replaced the clear, beautiful faith given us by our Savior Jesus Christ, with the false faith of Judas, Luther and the other servants of Satan, the implacable enemies of our Lord Jesus Christ and His Church.

Crowning the King of Martyrs

Then the soldiers of the governor taking Jesus into the hall, gathered together unto Him the whole band; And stripping Him, they put a scarlet cloak about him. And platting a crown of thorns, they put it upon His head, and a reed in His right hand. And bowing the knee before Him, they mocked Him, saying: Hail, king of the Jews.  And spitting upon Him, they took the reed, and struck His head.  And bowing their knees, they adored Him.

Behold the Man, your King!

Even the pagan soldiers knew that a King must be invested with the symbols of his royalty, that is, draped with a royal mantle, crowned, and finally, given a scepter as a sign of his power and rule. And so the soldiers obliged this strange King, who had said “but now My kingdom is not from hence”. And so, what royal insignia might they find fitting?

The soldiers soon found a discarded scarlet rag of large enough size and after first ripping off His outer garment, they draped His now freshly bleeding shoulders in this dirty mockery of a robe. As we think on the vivid symbolism in this scene compare it to our Pontiff’s words and actions – what homage does he offer to the King of Kings? A royal robe?

Now, the Roman soldiers clearly understood the necessity of the Crowning, for their gods were always crowned, Apollo with laurel, Bacchus with grape vines, Jupiter with gold. And so a crown fit for this King must be found.

And the Jews too, understood that their high priest wore a tiara when he offered the sacrifice. And did not their bridegroom according to their custom, wear a diadem at his wedding?

And we who watch this scene, we also recall that in those days a conqueror was often crowned to celebrate his victory; how much more so then, this King who by His death and resurrection will conquer sin and death!

What crown for this Son of Man, who told Pilate, “Thou sayest that I am a King.”

What crown for this Priest, who sacrifices His own Body and Blood for the salvation of those He loves.

What crown for this Divine Bridegroom, about to redeem His Bride with His own Blood, giving His life for her that she may live.

Father Groenings tells us that no other mantle was befitting for the Redeemer of the world. He was the picture of the world’s sins, which were red as scarlet, but through Him were to become white as snow. The mantle should be red as a sign that His kingdom, founded in blood, was to be spread by means of blood, that is, by the blood of the apostles and of the martyrs. It was ragged and torn in token that, in imitation of Christ, His ministers would redeem the souls of men and subject them to Christ, not by means of gold and silver, but through the hardships of poverty.

Ed. comment: Today, I would add that the Lavender Mafia headed by Pope Francis has given a new meaning to the foul and ragged mantle with which the pagan soldiers humiliated our Lord Jesus Christ. For they have befouled His Church and humiliated this lovely Bride of Christ as never before in history. See here for a Lifesite News article on one example of Pope Francis’s choice of prelates. There are many others. Thus, the pope makes a mockery of the true King of Kings!

Abide in My love

A message we repeat often, because it is so essential for all of us in this barren landscape of the Church today, is the need for true charity and true obedience, that is, the charity which first of all affirms the rights of Jesus Christ, the true Head of His Church.

After instituting the Sacrament of His Love on Holy Thursday, Our Lord commanded His Apostles, and by them, us,

“Abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you shall abide in My love … This is My commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you”.

In Anne Catherine Emmerich, The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ. (TAN Books) In Section III, Chapter 1, she recounts the following prophecy which was part of the agonies experienced by Our Lord in the Garden of Olives.

After describing satan and his legions attacking Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Garden, and the multitude of men, who appeared as though blinded, who attacked Our Lord, Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich related,

Betrayed with a kiss …

“it was made known to me that these apparitions were all those persons who in divers ways insult and outrage Jesus, really and truly present in the Holy Sacrament. I recognised among them all those who in any way profane the Blessed Eucharist. I beheld with horror all the outrages thus offered to Our Lord, whether by neglect, irreverence, and omission of what was due to Him; by open contempt, abuse, and the most awful sacrileges …

After a bit more describing the offenses to Our Lord in His Sacrament of Love, Blessed Anne says,

“I saw many others in which worldly, tasteless, unsuitable ornaments had replaced the magnificent adornments of a more pious age. I saw that often, the poorest of men were better lodged in their cottages than the Master of heaven and earth in His churches. Ah, how deeply did the inhospitality of men grieve Jesus, who had given Himself to them to be their Food! … In consequence of all this, I saw the weak scandalized, the Adorable Sacrament profaned, the churches deserted and the priests despised. This state of impurity and negligence extended even to the souls of the faithful, who left the tabernacle of their hearts unprepared and uncleansed when Jesus was about to enter them, exactly the same as they left His tabernacle on the altar. …

“I saw irreverent Christians, sacrilegious priests, crowds of tepid and unworthy communicants, wicked soldiers profaning the holy vessels, and servants of the devil making use of the Holy Eucharist in the frightful mysteries of hellish worship. Among these bands, I saw a great number of theologians, who had been drawn into heresy by their sins, attacking Jesus in the Holy Sacrament of His Church, and snatching out of His Heart, by their seductive words, a number of souls for whom He had shed His blood.”

To those who are devoted to the Faith, it often seems clear that those among the hierarchy who are undermining the Faith, are filled with malice against Our Lord, and that makes us, to an extent, bitter enemies of them. However, St. Paul is a perfect example for us in these chaotic and confused times. He urged the Jews to kill St. Stephen, but he was ignorant at that time, and when he was confronted with Christ, he adored Him and surrendered his will and his life to serving Our Lord Jesus Christ in the most exemplary manner.

We must obey Our Lord’s words at this time in history!  From the Cross, He gives us His example, as He prayed for those who brutally crucified Him, and still crucify Him today, “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do”. He still commands us, “Abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you shall abide in My love … This is My commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you”.

We need, all of us, to pray for these poor men, our Bishops and Cardinals, who have decided on a false obedience instead of the true loving affirmation of Christ’s own truth, the dogma of the faith entrusted to them for the spiritual nourishment of their flocks. True loving and humble obedience serves Our Lord Jesus Christ, it does not betray Him in His own Church. Those prelates who fail to correct the pope in his errors do not do so from loving obedience but from craven fear. They do not serve Our Lord Jesus Christ, but Judas, Luther and the other enemies of Christ.

One of the first and most important messages of Our Lady of the Rosary at Fatima was that there is indeed a place which is hell, and many, many souls go there. Think on this. Think. And pray and do penance.

Pray the Rosary and confound the devil!

~ by evensong for love of the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary and the most Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King.

Vouchsafe that I may praise thee, O Sacred Virgin, give me strength against thine enemies!

With yesterday’s repost, we renew our discussion of Apocalypse 8 in order to examine an intriguing quote from Sister Lucia. When asked to comment on the Third Secret she suggested that we faithful read the Apocalypse, especially Chapters 8 and 13. Several Popes have also indicated that the message of Fatima is apocalyptic, as has Father Malachi Martin. In fact, it is quite possible that by reviewing Chapters 8 through 13 we may even gain some insight into what this Pope of Surprises has in store for us; what do you think?

And now we continue with Part 3, which has been updated and much new material added:

“And the second angel sounded the trumpet: and as it were a great mountain, burning with fire, was cast into the sea, and the third part of the sea became blood:  And the third part of those creatures died, which had life in the sea, and the third part of the ships was destroyed.” (Apoc. 8, 8-9)

Our last post in this series, Fatima, Vatican II and the Chastisement 2, did not fully address the verse above. I appreciate that this was pointed out to me. We did mention the common opinion that the burning mountain referred to Islam, but did not note the fact that it may also, and much more probably, refer to Russia. Indeed, Our Lady’s last appearance at Fatima on October 13, 1917, was just days prior to the Bolshevik Revolution of November 7, 1917.

Yes, as Father Sylvester Berry points out in his book, The Apocalypse of St. John, the burning mountain is most certainly a country and with the hindsight we have now, 100 years after Our Lady of Fatima warned that if Russia was was not consecrated,  she (Russia) “will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions against the Church. The good will be martyred; the Holy Father will have much to suffer; various nations will be annihilated.”  Fr. Berry:  “The vision shows that, despite the preaching of the Gospel, some great nation will bring war and bloodshed upon a large portion of mankind. It also predicts great persecutions against the Church. Nations will seek to destroy the Church at all hazards.”

In another earlier post, Islam and the Errors of Russia, we explored the connection between the two evils, Islam and Russia. This will all be clear soon, as the chastisement reveals its contours more clearly. But for now, just note: Blessed Elena Aiello prophesied in the year 1960 (note well the date.) that “Russia will battle America and will overcome Europe. … will raise her flag over the Dome of St. Peter’s.”  Indeed, some have noted that with Pope Francis, we already have a marxist pope, who owns a symbol of the errors of Russia, that is, a hammer and sickle on which Christ Our Saviour hangs, crucified.

Additionally, Sister Lucia herself told Dr. William Walsh, in answer to his inquiry whether the United States of America would be overcome by Communism unless the Consecration was done, “Yes”.

Let’s continue with Father Berry’s remarks on the end of Chapter 8:

A Progressive Accumulation of Evils

“The prophecies of this chapter have been fulfilled many times in the past. No doubt they will often be verified in the future. It should be noted, however, that a progressive accumulation of evils is predicted. At first, it affects individuals only (Apoc. 8: 7). Then a nation or an entire church is involved (Apoc. 8: 8), and a number of great heretics fall away from the Faith (Apoc. 8: 10). Finally, the whole Church suffers from a weakening of Faith and discipline (Apoc. 8: 12). This gradual progression of evil, this “mystery of iniquity” (2 Thess. 2: 7), which was working even in the days of St. Paul will finally usher in the Antichrist. … Whatever interpretation be adopted, there can be no doubt that this verse heralds the beginning of a new and important epoch in the history of the Church.”

This quote is from Father Sylvester Berry’s essential book, “The Apocalypse of St. John”.  As we continue with this series, keep in mind that God our Father has given us His own Son for our Savior and the Blessed Virgin Mary for our Mother and will sustain us in all our needs. The times are approaching when when must hold firm to this faith.

Cardinal Manning on Bergoglio’s Reformation

Update: Since we posted this, there has been a really nice response. I know it is a long post, but thank you for reading- it is necessary to review this in order to  understand the importance of what is occurring now. Never before in Church history has the declared and accepted Vicar of Christ promoted such destructive policies against our Lord Jesus Christ. As in St. John Bosco’s vision of the Two Pillars, the Barque of Peter has become unmoored and has entered into dangerous waters. Since posting this earlier today, please note that new material has been added. Please take some time to prayerfully consider:

Long before Cardinals Danneels, Marx and Kasper got their man, Bergoglio in the See of Peter, a holy Cardinal in England, a convert actually, foretold much of what we are now seeing. Cardinal Henry Edward Manning in “The Present Crisis in the Holy See”,  warned of a grave crisis facing the Church. The book’s four chapters, “The Progress of the Mystery of Iniquity, the Antichrist, What Holds Back the Antichrist  and The Apostasy of Rome“, are a solemn warning to the Church for these times.

"The Church of God will ... lie bleeding at the feet of the powers of this world."
“The Church of God will … lie bleeding at the feet of the powers of this world.”

Early in his book, Cardinal Manning states that the three notes of the Apostasy are schism, heresy and denial of the Incarnation, and concludes that all the heresies from the beginning are but the continuous development and expansion of the one “mystery of iniquity” which from the beginning wars against the mystery of the faith.

Likening the heresies which have afflicted the Church to diseases, he remarks:

“To name no more than these,— Gnosticism, Arianism, and, above all, Protestantism, have generated each a multitude of subordinate and affiliated heresies. But  it is Protestantism which, above all others, bears the three notes of the inspired writers in the greatest breadth and evidence. Other heresies have opposed parts and details of the Christian faith and Church; but Protestantism, taken in its historical complex, as we now are able, with the retrospect of three hundred years, to measure it, reaching from the religion of Luther, Calvin, and Cranmer at the one end, to the Rationalism and Pantheism of England and Germany at the other, is of all the most formal, detailed and commensurate antagonist of Christianity.

“I do not mean that it has as yet attained its full development, for we shall see reasons to believe that it (protestant heresy) is still pregnant with a darker future; but even as “the mystery of iniquity” has already worked, no other antagonist (than Protestantism) has as yet gone so deep in undermining the faith of the Christian world.”

Cardinal Manning thus foresaw that even in 1861, the protestant heresy was  “still pregnant with a darker future”. And so it was. We have seen that after the Second Vatican Council, the heresy of modernism (in which protestantism subsists) advanced even into the highest echelons of the Catholic Church. Cardinal Manning then observed two consequences of the heretical movements of the mystery of iniquity. The first of these is the rise of nationalism and the second is the deification of man, which has become rampant since Vatican II. And now has seemingly triumphed under the destructive reign of Luther’s own Pope Francis.

Bergoglio’s Reformation

Pope Francis forges ahead with the Bergoglian Reformation and knowing that he has but little time, is filled with evil intensity to rehabilitate the arch-heretic Martin Luther.

The Bergoglian Revolution

Just a few days ago, Pope Francis honored the 99th anniversary of Our Lady of the Rosary’s last visit to Fatima, Portugal and her Miracle of the Sun, which she performed “so that all will believe”.

Oh wait – no – he honored someone else, didn’t he? Someone much more modern and important? Pope Francis chose to honor Martin Luther instead of the Blessed Virgin on the 99th anniversary of her miracle of the sun. Really. In fact, he did not even mention Our Lady of Fatima or the Holy Rosary once on the 99th anniversary of the greatest event of the 20th century.

To the left,  Pope Francis with the statue of Martin Luther, who was honored by the Pope during his talk welcoming Lutheran pilgrims on October 13, this year.

In his own words:

“The last thing you must do is ‘to say, to convince’. It’s not right to convince someone of your faith,” he said. “Proselytism is the strongest venom against the path of ecumenism”.

The pope was speaking to around 1,000 pilgrims in the Vatican – most of them German Lutherans – who are in Rome as part of ecumenical preparations for the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the Lutheran “reformation”.

“The Apostle Paul tells us that, by virtue of our baptism, we all form the one Body of Christ,” the pope said. “The different members, in fact, are one body.” (ANSA)

Earlier, in yet another of his flying circus press conferences, on June 27, the Pope said,

I think that the intentions of Martin Luther were not mistaken. He was a reformer. Perhaps some methods were not correct . . . There was corruption in the Church, there was worldliness, attachment to money, to power, and this he protested. Then he was intelligent and took some steps forward justifying, and because he did this. And today Lutherans and Catholics, Protestants, all of us agree on the doctrine of justification.(NCRegister) Thus does this pope reject the “outdated” Council of Trent and its truths.

The “Luther Love Fest” will continue in a couple weeks, with the Pope visiting Sweden to honor Martin Luther there as well. And on it goes, where it stops no one knows. But we can take a fairly well informed guess that it will have its culmination by the time of the 500th anniversary of Luther’s revolt, in October 2017. No wonder the Pope is so fond of Luther: after all, Luther made a mess just as Pope Francis commands us. In fact, long before Luther, his patron demon Judas was notably making quite a mess and revolting against Christ;  perhaps the Pope will rehabilitate them both in this brave new church where heresy and betrayal is celebrated and speaking the truth of the faith is considered “venomous poison”.

The Wrath of the Lamb II

The term, “Wrath of the Lamb” indicates a severe judgment on prelates for Eucharistic abuses. It indicates a fearsome reprisal for those who desecrate the Eucharist, not merely the laymen, but particularly the hierarchy to whom Our Lord has entrusted His Sacred Mysteries and who shamelessly betray Him.

All three installments of “With Burning Concern: We Accuse Pope Francis” are online at Catholic Family News. It’s a very skillfully compiled summary of the most serious errors being pushed by the Bergoglian Reformation against the Church. It’s a tragic sign of the darkness of these days that there has not been one single prelate to speak out as clearly and bravely as Michael Matt, Chris Ferrara and John Vennari, and we pray that their message will reach all of the faithful throughout the world. Please download all three parts and help spread them.

Since I am unfortunately unable to post at present, I offer an earlier post which addresses the alarming heterodoxy flourishing in this Bergoglian Reformation:

The Wrath of the Lamb

“And they say to the mountains and the rocks, ‘Fall upon us, and hide us from the face of Him that sitteth upon the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb.”

Far from being frightening, the above verse is meant to be a consolation. Indeed, the entire Apocalypse is God’s gift of consolation to Christians who are perennially in danger of being swept up in the maelstrom of the spiritual battle to destroy the Church.

Like the Apocalypse, all Our Lady’s appearances since the Luther began the Age of Apostasy are consistent; they warn against offending God, and promise His true, unfailing mercy to His faithful children. Now that we have a truly hellish situation, an apostate pope and a weak and faithless hierarchy unable or unwilling to confront him or otherwise defend the faith, we look to the Apocalypse and to the Messages of Our Immaculate Mother, to seek guidance and consolation.

Do you remember Father Amorth’s warning that unless the Pope and Bishops obeyed Our Lady of Fatima and consecrated Russia in October, the Chastisement would begin in earnest? I cannot say it more clearly than this: This is what the spiritual chastisement of the Church is. It is here now. You have the Pope and the Bishops extolling the “virtues” of Martin Luther, the vulgar and despicable heresiarch. For the Pope to laud Luther is to mock Our Lord Himself, to kick Him as He falls beneath this heavy cross.

To those who are paying attention, this is a terrifying time, as we await the denouement that is looming ever larger. These times are both surpassingly sad, and frightening. We know that the arrogant misuse of the teaching authority of the Church will bring, in God’s own time, His justice. In St. John’s Apocalypse, this is referred to as the “Wrath of the Lamb”. In Father Herman Kramer’s “Book of Destiny“, of Apocalypse, Chapter 6, verses 15-17, we read:

The Magisterium of Francis

Sandro Magister has a good post on what our humble Bishop of Rome has next on his agenda of surprises: A married priesthood! Magister had written of this right after the last Synod:

See: The Next Synod Is Already in the Works. On Married Priests

And: Married Priests. The Germany-Brazil Axis

“Not Enough Celibate Priests? Make Way For Married Priests“.

“This is the remedy being considered by Cardinal Hummes and Pope Francis for regions with a scarcity of clergy, starting with the Amazon. … Pope Francis received in audience a few days ago the Brazilian cardinal Cláudio Hummes, accompanied by the archbishop of Natal, Jaime Vieira Rocha.

Hummes, 82, former archbishop of São Paulo and prefect of the Vatican congregation for the clergy, is today the president both of the commission for the Amazon of the episcopal conference of Brazil and of the Pan-Amazonian Network that joins together 25 cardinals and bishops of the surrounding countryside, in addition to indigenous representatives of different local ethnicities.

A Complaint Against Francis

By the grace of God and the law of Church, a complaint against Francis, Roman Pontiff, on account of danger to the Faith and grave harm to souls and the common good of the Holy Catholic Church.

“they shall be ‘like sharp arrows in the hand of the powerful’ Mary to pierce her enemies.”That they may extinguish the fire in the House of God.”

Today, Michael Matt, Christopher Ferrara and John Vennari have made Church history. They have done what no member of the episcopacy was willing to do. They have taken action to speak the truth boldly, to defend the doctrine of the faith from the man who calls himself the Bishop of Rome and currently occupies the See of Peter.

John Vennari, Michael Matt and Christopher Ferrara are not the brave and faithful prelates we have been praying for, but they are the brave and faithful laymen we have been given. And they are doing what no Bishop, Archbishop or Cardinal will do, they are defending the faith against Pope Francis.

The following post is taken verbatim from Mr. John Vennari’s Catholic Family News.  We have not edited it in any way. We hope that you will read it prayerfully, forward to others, and most importantly pray for all concerned and if at all possible have Masses offered for these men and for the Pope and hierarchy.

Lamentabili Sane

In honor of St. Pius X, our last saintly Pope, on his feast day, we offer his Syllabus Against Modernism, a firm guide for us as we continue to observe the unravelling of the doctrine and practice of the faith.

The final Synod Against the Family and the Eucharist is past, and Pope Francis continues his demolition derby against the dogma and practice of the faith.  A good remedy for these errors is to refresh our knowledge of the immutable truths of the Faith as once proclaimed by saints, especially our holy Popes of years gone by. From our treasury of Encyclicals, we offer St. Pius X’s brave, if unsuccessful, effort to stem the tide of heresy that eventually overwhelmed the Church in the twentieth century.

As we read this classic of the faith, we cannot help but note that the errors condemned here are the very foundation for the irreversible changes being foisted upon us by the self-named St. Gallen Mafia, the Bergoglio/Kasper agenda, especially those in Amoris Laetitia.

Pope St. Pius X

As a preface to Lamentabili Sane, we offer a brief quote from Pope St. Pius X’s “Notre Charge Apostolique” in which he condemns the Sillon, a precursor of the “social justice” preached by Pope Francis in place of the Gospel.

“Our Apostolic Mandate requires from Us that We watch over the purity of the Faith and the integrity of Catholic discipline. It requires from Us that We protect the faithful from evil and error; especially so when evil and error are presented in dynamic language which, concealing vague notions and ambiguous expressions with emotional and high-sounding words, is likely to set ablaze the hearts of men in pursuit of ideals which, whilst attractive, are nonetheless nefarious. Such were not so long ago the doctrines of the so-called philosophers of the 18th century, the doctrines of the Revolution and Liberalism which have been so often condemned; such are even today the theories of the Sillon which, under the glowing appearance of generosity, are all too often wanting in clarity, logic and truth.”

And now for Pope St. Pius X’s beautiful and clear condemnation of the errors of modernism, which he proclaimed over a century ago and which is even more relevant today: Lamentabili Sane: (emphasis ours)

LAMENTABILI SANE

Pius X July 3, 1907
With truly lamentable results, our age, casting aside all restraint in its search for the ultimate causes of things, frequently pursues novelties so ardently that it rejects the legacy of the human race. Thus it falls into very serious errors, which are even more serious when they concern sacred authority, the interpretation of Sacred Scripture, and the principal mysteries of Faith. The fact that many Catholic writers also go beyond the limits determined by the Fathers and the Church herself is extremely regrettable. In the name of higher knowledge and historical research (they say), they are looking for that progress of dogmas which is, in reality, nothing but the corruption of dogmas.

These errors are being daily spread among the faithful. Lest they captivate the faithful’s minds and corrupt the purity of their faith, His Holiness, Pius X, by Divine Providence, Pope, has decided that the chief errors should be noted and condemned by the Office of this Holy Roman and Universal Inquisition.

Therefore, after a very diligent investigation and consultation with the Reverend Consultors, the Most Eminent and Reverend Lord Cardinals, the General Inquisitors in matters of faith and morals have judged the following propositions to be condemned and proscribed. In fact, by this general decree, they are condemned and proscribed.
