Words, just words

PART I

The Words of the Virgin

Let’s return for a moment to the words of the Blessed Virgin at Fatima. We’ll let this post be the start and reference for a discussion about what Our Lady actually said and meant at Fatima one hundred years ago. Today, not much comment, just the words Our Lady of the Rosary used in imparting her message one hundred years ago.

May 13, 1917

Our Lady to the three shepherd children, “Do not fear! I will do you no harm.”   Then, in reply to Lucia’s question: I am of Heaven.” Thus she recalls to us her prerogative as The Immaculate Conception, by which she is uniquely privileged to claim, “I am of Heaven“.

To Lucia’s question, Shall I go to Heaven too? “Yes, you will.” And Jacinta? “She will go also.” And Francisco? “He will go too, but he must say many rosaries.”

Lucia then asked if  two young girls she knew who had died recently had gone to heaven. The beautiful Lady answered of the first girl, Maria das Neves, Yes, she is.” But of the second, known to us only as Amelia, the Lady said, “She shall be in purgatory until the end of the world.”  [We will address this issue later.]

To Lucia’s inquiry, “What does Your Grace want of me?” The Lady replied,

“I have come to ask you to come here for six months in succession, on the 13th day, at this same hour. Later on, I will tell you who I am and what I want. Afterwards, I will return here yet a seventh time.”

“Are you willing to offer yourselves to God and bear all the sufferings He wills to send you as an act of reparation for the sins by which He is offended, and in supplication for the conversion of sinners?”

Francisco, Jacinta and Lucia answered, “Yes, we are willing!” Our Lady then told them, “Then you are going to have much to suffer, but the grace of God will be your comfort.”

Lucia tells us that as Our Lady said those last words, she spread her hands communicating to us … a light so intense … its rays penetrated our hearts and the innermost depths of our souls making us see ourselves in God, Who was that Light.” The children then, moved by an inner impulse, knelt down and prayed, “O Most Holy Trinity, I adore Thee!. My God, my God, I love Thee in the most Blessed Sacrament!”

The Lady then said, “Pray the Rosary every day, in order to obtain peace for the world, and the end of the war.”

 June 13, 1917

Lucia asked as she did the first time, “What does Your Grace want of me?”  The Lady replied,

“I wish you to come here on the 13th of next month, to pray the Rosary each day, and to learn how to read. Later, I will tell you what I want.”

When Lucia asked her about curing a sick person, Our Lady answered, “If he is converted, he will be cured during the year.”

Lucia then bravely said, “I would like to ask you to take us to Heaven.”

“Yes, I will take Jacinta and Francisco soon. But you are to stay here some time longer. Jesus wishes to make use of you to make me known and loved. He wants to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart.”

“Am I to stay here alone?”

“No, my daughter. Are you suffering a great deal? Don’t lose heart. I will never forsake you. My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the path that leads you to God.”

Lucia explains that as Our Lady said this, she once again communicated that immense Light to them. Jacinta and Francisco were in the portion which went up to Heaven and Lucia remained in the portion spread out on earth. But this time, Our Lady extended her right hand and in front of her palm was a heart encircled by thorns which pierced it. In Lucia’s words, “We understood that this was the Immaculate Heart of Mary outraged by the sins of humanity and seeking reparation.”

The Centenary of Fatima and the Passion of the Church

Father Malachi Martin was bound, unfairly he believed, but nevertheless bound by an oath against revealing the Third Secret, or more properly, the third portion of the Secret of Fatima. But this chafed him so that he increasingly indicated insights into the secret’s meaning as time went by and the devil’s own chaos increased in the Church. It must have been a terrible burden to know that if only he were able to speak out, so many souls might have repented and been saved! But Father took solace in obedience, knowing as he did that it was by way of the arrogant disobedience of Popes that this assault from hell came about.

And so, even though bound by his oath, Father allowed certain insights. If we review all the hints he gave us in his books and interviews, they fall into a pattern roughly consisting of three portions,

  1. A physical chastisement
  2. A spiritual chastisement
  3. The action of Russia in both chastisements.

Frère Michel de la Sainte Trinité  also believed that Russia was the key player in both the physical and spiritual events of the chastisement. Additionally,  Frère Michel stressed that the physical chastisements began with the Second World War and since Russia has not been consecrated properly – and thus cannot be exorcised of Satanic control – the ongoing war will only continue, eventually enveloping the entire world with one horrific conflagration of intense terror. The force behind this will of course, be Russia, or more precisely, satanic marxism.

Satanic marxism is also behind the spiritual chastisement which continues apace until the Church is eventually reduced to a very small  and seemingly impotent remnant. There is little doubt that Pope Francis is a satanic marxist and is the Pope that Father Malachi Martin alluded to as the last pope of this era and who would be under the control of Satan. St. Hildegard has told us what to expect of this pope and Blessed Elizabeth Canori Mora has also warned us of what is to come.

In a previous post we quoted Antonio Socci’s account of Pope Benedict’s revelation at Fatima in 2010:

But a resounding explicit confirmation came from Benedict XVI himself, who, during an unexpected pilgrimage to Fatima on May 13, 2010, affirmed: “He deceives himself who thinks that the prophetic mission of Fatima is concluded.”

He added: “there are indicated future realities of the Church which little by little are manifesting themselves… and therefore it is the sufferings of the Church which are announced.”

But could such prophecies be found in that text [of the vision]?

These two phrases of the Pope in that discourse at Fatima prompt reflection:

“Man has the power to unleash a cycle of death and terror, but he is not able to stop it.” And then: “The faith in vast regions of the earth risks being extinguished, like a flame without fuel.”

From these words of Pope Benedict one discerns, therefore, that there is truly something else in the Third Secret and that it is dramatic for the world and the Church. The volume in fact draws from the letters of Sister Lucia and from the unpublished diary “My Way.” Impressive among things previously unpublished, is the account of how Sister Lucy overcame the terror that prevented her from writing down the Third Secret.

The Unpublished Account

At around 4 p.m. on January 3, 1944, in the chapel of the convent, before the Tabernacle, Lucia asked Jesus to make known His will: “I then felt a friendly hand, maternal and affectionate, touch my shoulder.”

And the Mother of God said to her: “be at peace, and write what I have commanded you, but not, however, that which has been given to you to understand its meaning,” intending to allude to the meaning of the vision which the Virgin herself had revealed.

Immediately afterward, said Sister Lucia, “I felt my spirit inundated by a mystery of light that is God and in Him I saw and heard: the point of a lance like a flame that is detached, touches the axis of the earth, and it trembles: mountains, cities, towns and villages with their inhabitants are buried. The sea, the rivers, the clouds, exceed their boundaries, inundating and dragging with them, in a vortex, houses and people in a number that cannot be counted. It is the purification of the world from the sin in which it is immersed. Hatred, ambition, provoke the destructive war.

After I felt my racing heart, in my spirit a soft voice said: ‘In time, one faith, one baptism, one Church, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic. In eternity, Heaven!’ This word ‘Heaven’ filled my heart with peace and happiness in such a way that, almost without being aware of it, I kept repeating to myself for a long time: Heaven, Heaven.” (Antonio Socci)

From this came the strength to write the Third Secret. …

The Holy Family in the Year of Fatima

The Feast of the Holy Family, 2017

Today, the first Sunday after Epiphany, the Church celebrates the Feast of the Holy Family, which is the last time in the liturgical year in which we honor the hidden life of Jesus.

Thus, it is fitting that in the Gospel today, we read of the event which comprises the Fifth Joyful Mystery, the Finding of the Child Jesus in the Temple. In this, we commemorate the first words of Jesus recorded in the Gospel, “How is it that you sought Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”

St. Luke then tells us that Jesus returned to Nazareth with Mary and Joseph “and was subject to them.” In this brief account, we have several important lessons: First, Jesus establishes His mission in His first recorded words,  “I must be about My Father’s business.” And second, Jesus was subject to Mary and Joseph. The Son of God first asserts the primacy of God, by stating that His mission is to serve the Father in all things, then Jesus affirms the importance of family, “He was subject to them.” On the firm bedrock of total obedience to God in all things, we can most perfectly live out our love of God within our families, whether they be our personal families or our religious communities. If love of God comes first, what follows cannot fail to serve Him.

 My Father's business
My Father’s business

As we open our minds and our hearts, lifting them to God in this, the Fifth Joyful Mystery, we consider Saint Joseph leading his Holy Family back home from the Temple. The blessed peace that surrounds them draws us in too, and we are nourished with the truths of this holy mystery. By His actions, Our Lord teaches us humility and obedience in His submission to His Father’s will and through that, because of that, His submission to Mary and Joseph. By our consecrations we submit to them too, and thus we learn humility and obedience. We also learn poverty; now, in the first beatitude,  Our Lord makes us a promise for this virtue:  “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.” In later posts, we hope to show the application of this excellent virtue for these particular times of trial.

The Fatima Connection

On the fifth visit, September 13, 1917, Our Lady told the children, “In October … Saint Joseph will appear with the Child Jesus to give peace to  the world.” And in Sister Lucia’s accounts of the Sixth Visit, she related that this is precisely what occurred. You may ask, “Where then is this peace”? The answer, if you will hear it yet again, is, “Your peace is dependent upon your obedience!” As an infant receives the graces of baptism, we, the faithful have been given unimaginable graces in great profusion, awaiting only our cooperation. If we but seek them, turning to Jesus and Mary (and Joseph too!) and seeking them in humility and obedience, we shall see miracles as never before seen in this tired old world, making all things new, restoring the faith.

Ukraine Consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

H/T to Basto at Odogmadafe.wordpress.com, comes this most welcome news from the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church’s News Site.

The Head of the UGCC in Fatima consecrated Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Monday, 24 October 2016

“We are in the unique miraculous place of the apparition of Our Lady, which holds a message and a spiritual call to open the mystery of ecclesiastical history of the whole mankind, and, in particular, the history of our nation. Since we, as no one, when hearing the words about those apparitions of the Mother of God at Fatima, understand that, first and foremost, it’s about us, especially about those who are suffering from the war.”

His Beatitude Sviatislav Shevchuk of Ukraine Greek Catholic Church
His Beatitude Sviatislav Shevchuk of Ukraine Greek Catholic Church

This was said by the Head and Father of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) His Beatitude Sviatoslav in his homily during the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on October 23 in Fatima, while addressing Ukrainian pilgrims, who arrived there from Portugal, Italy and Spain. The Head of the Church was joined by Bishops of the Synod of the UGCC and other representatives of Eastern Catholic Churches of Europe.

“Imagine that a hundred years ago this was a remote and desolate stony place, where little shepherds herded their sheep into a pasture, – he went on. – And it was to them, those illiterate children, that the Mother of God spoke to. She asked them what Jesus Christ asked His first Apostles for.”

So the Most Holy Virgin Mary called a man to the common work with God in the matter of saving mankind. Our Lady was looking for such an answer and such readiness to be with the Lord in His fight with evil, which were in those little shepherds. The first appeal, which she made to the children in order to save the world from war, was the following: “Are you willing to bear sufferings and sacrifice them for the offences caused to God by mankind? Would you like, by your prayer, repentance, sacrifice, and conversion, to save sinful souls from hell?” Those children said “Yes.”

Pope Pius XII and the Miracle of the Sun

Did you know that Our Lady of Fatima favored Pope Pius XII with his own personal “Miracle of the Sun”? Why do you think that she did this?

Despite betrayal, despite indifference, in the end, her Immaculate Heart will triumph
Despite betrayal, despite indifference, “in the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph!”

The following is from Frère Michel de la Sainte Trinité’s “The Whole Truth About Fatima, Volume III, The Third Secret”.

On October 29, (1950) the statue of the Pilgrim Virgin of Fatima, which had just visited several nations of Asia, arrived at Rome. On the following morning, October 30, 35 Cardinals and over 450 bishops had met in consistory around the Sovereign Pontiff, who for the first time officially informed them of his intention of defining the dogma of the Assumption very soon. At the end of his allocution, Pope Pius XII consulted the successors of the apostles one last time, “is it therefore pleasing to you, Venerable brethren, that we proclaim and solemnly define as a dogma revealed by God, the bodily Assumption of the Blessed virgin Mary into heaven?” After receiving their unanimous assent, the Pope gave thanks.

On the very same day, Monday, October 30, after this solemn decision, while the Madonna of Fatima had stopped for three days in the church of Casaletto, right behind the Vatican gardens on land belonging to the Holy See, on the anniversary of the consecration of the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary eight years earlier, it was given to the Holy Father to contemplate the same extraordinary spectacle that 70,000 pilgrims had seen at the Cova da Iria on October 13, 1917. Here is the account written shortly afterwards by Pius XII himself.

If … If Not …

“If My requests are heeded, Russia will be converted and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions against the Church. The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer, various nations will be annihilated. In the end, My Immaculate Heart will triumph.”

The Passion of the Church
The Passion of the Church

That is to say, that one way or another, God’s justice will prevail, despite our willful disobedience. Nowhere is this more apparent that in the United States of America during this tragic pre-election melodrama.

The following post is my final attempt to address repeated requests of some readers to clarify the spiritual implications of the current political turmoil in the United States.

“And the second angel sounded the trumpet: and as it were a great mountain, burning with fire, was cast into the sea, and the third part of the sea became blood: [9] And the third part of those creatures died, which had life in the sea, and the third part of the ships was destroyed.” (Apoc. 8, 8)

Although the above has been applied appropriately to Islam, in our times it is more accurately applied to Russia. Indeed, Our Lady’s last appearance at Fatima on October 13, 1917, was just 25 days prior to the Bolshevik Revolution of November 7, 1917 (which was October 25 in the Julian or Old Style calendar by which it is referred to as the “October Revolution”).

As Father Sylvester Berry points out in his book, The Apocalypse of St. John, the burning mountain is most certainly a country and with the hindsight we have now, 99 years after Our Lady of Fatima warned that if Russia was was not consecrated,  she (Russia) “will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions against the Church. The good will be martyred; the Holy Father will have much to suffer; various nations will be annihilated.”

Fr. Berry:  “The vision shows that, despite the preaching of the Gospel, some great nation will bring war and bloodshed upon a large portion of mankind. It also predicts great persecutions against the Church. Nations will seek to destroy the Church at all hazards.”

In another earlier post, Islam and the Errors of Russia, we explained the connection between the two evils, Islam and Russia. This will all be clear soon, as the chastisement reveals its contours more clearly. But for now, just note: Blessed Elena Aiello prophesied in the year 1960 (note well the date) that “Russia will battle America and will overcome Europe. … will raise her flag over the Dome of St. Peter’s.”  Indeed, some have noted that with Pope Francis, we already have a marxist pope, since he currently owns a symbol of the errors of Russia, that is, a hammer and sickle on which Christ Our Saviour hangs crucified.

The New Rosary Crusade Begins Tomorrow

Prayer to the Immaculate Virgin Mary

The evil serpent on whom was cast the primal curse continues, alas, to attack and ensnare the poor children of Eve. But thou, our Blessed Mother, our Queen and our Advocate, thou who from the first instant of thy conception didst crush the head of this cruel enemy, receive our prayers. United to thee with one heart, we beseech thee to present them before the throne of God.

May we never be caught in the snares around us, but rather may we all reach the harbor of salvation. Despite the awesome perils which threaten, may God’s Church and all Christian society sing out once again the hymn of deliverance, of victory and of peace. Amen. (Pope Pius X)

The Rosary Crusade begins tomorrow, on the Feast of the Assumption – Please consider taking up this crusade, it’s our final opportunity to obey heaven’s call before the fateful century draws to its calamitous close. A last ditch effort, really.

Never before has the need for a Rosary Crusade been greater.  Our Lady of Fatima has given us this last remedy of the Rosary and devotion to her Immaculate Heart.  Many  will say that they reject Bishop Fellay, reject the Society of St. Pius X, but that is to miss the point. We must do this, regardless of our affiliation and I hope you will read the following prayerfully and see if Our Lady isn’t calling you to obedience in this great effort.

By the Rosary, She shall crush the head of satan!
By the Rosary, She shall crush the head of satan!

Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of the Holy Rosary, pray for us who have recourse to thee!

The Rosary Crusade will begin tomorrow, August 15, on the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and will continue through the year, concluding in 2017, on the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, August 22.

Bishop Bernard Fellay, Superior General of the Society of St. Pius X announced this new Rosary Crusade as a spiritual preparation for the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima (May to October 1917).

This crusade will be held from August 15, 2016 to August 22, 2017.

It follows the intentions indicated by the Blessed Virgin herself:

(I) Jesus wishes to establish in the world the devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

In order to do so, all the faithful are invited:

  • to recite the rosary daily, alone or as a family;
  • to accomplish the devotion of the reparatory communion on five first Saturdays, and to multiply their daily sacrifices in a spirit of reparation for the outrages against Mary;
  • to wear the miraculous medal themselves and to diffuse it around them;
  • to consecrate their homes to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. [Family Consecration Prayer is in sidebar to the right.]

Besides the propagation of this devotion, we will also pray

(II) for the triumph of the Immaculate Heart and

(III) for the pope and all the bishops of the Catholic world to consecrate Russia to the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary.

And as a special intention we will add

(IV) the protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary for the Society of St. Pius X and all its members in addtition to all the religious communities of Tradition.

The goal set by Bishop Bernard Fellay is a bouquet of 12 million rosaries and 50 million sacrifices for Our Lady of Fatima.

You may also find useful our post: “2016: Reparation is the key“.

NOTE: Although I cannot cite the source just now,  Sister Lucia did assure us that we will not be saved alone, that is to say, we must sacrifice and pray to save others. We may feel as though that in this chaos, we must focus on saving our own souls, but we will be held accountable for all our missed opportunities to work for the salvation of others. As I write this, it is about an hour before dawn, after a very long night. Our Sorrowful Mother has waited so long, and most Catholics really could not possibly care less. And God’s justice awaits. Please pray the Rosary and work to spread this Rosary Crusade..

Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of our hearts, Mother of the Church, do thou offer to the Eternal Father the Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, for the conversion of poor sinners, especially our Pontiff.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I implore, that I may ever love Thee, more and more!

St. Joseph, protector of the Holy Family, protect our families!

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle!

~ by evensong for love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Vouchsafe that I may praise thee, O Sacred Virgin! Give me strength against thine enemies!
