Prayer of Reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Today is First Friday for the Sacred Heart of Jesus and it is also the vigil of the fine old feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Whether you are completing your Novena for Our Lady of Good Success or the little Novena of the Purification, I trust you are well prepared and ready for tomorrow’s renewal of Consecration.

From time to time, a reader will let me know of their progress and it is always so good to hear, especially when you have grown in your devotion to reparation to Our Lady for the horrendous insults to her that seem to flood from the Vatican of Pope Francis. We could do as so many others and spend our time reading all of the endless discussions about what could – or should – be done about this shameful situation; but we know that making reparation to Our Mother’s Immaculate Heart is a far better plan! Here’s a little prayer that seems apt right now, I hope you like it.

Prayer of Reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

O Immaculate Heart of Mary, living tabernacle of the Divinity, most Sorrowful Mother, I offer you my love and fidelity and my firm desire to make reparation for the blasphemies and offenses which are unceasingly offered to you and which so offend your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ.

The more your Immaculate Conception is blasphemed, the more firmly I will proclaim it, most pure Mother of God.
The more that enemies within the Church despise and ignore your loving mercy, the more I will love You, most Blessed Mother.
The more your perpetual virginity is attacked, the more I will honor you, ever-virgin Mother of our Savior.
The more your Rosary is denigrated and blasphemed, the more I will recite it with love and reverence, most generous Heart of Mary.
The more your message of Fatima is ignored and lied about, the more I will take care to observe it and spread its truth, dear Lady of the Rosary.
The more that you are blasphemed and scorned by the enemies within the Church, the more ardently I will make reparation, O Mother of Mercy.
The more the imitation of your purity and humility is scorned and forgotten, the more I will endeavor to imitate you, most Sorrowful Mother.
The more the devil strives to destroy devotion to you and your message, the more I will be inflamed to devotion to the prayers and  penances you request, O Mother of Divine Grace.
The more that sin and impurity deface and destroy your divine Son’s image in man, the more I shall try by purity of life to be a living temple of the Holy Spirit, most pure and holy Mother of God.
The more your Holy Church is scorned and compromised, the more I will endeavor to be her faithful child, O Holy Mother of the Church.
The more that hubris, heresy and apostasy threaten our Holy Church, the more I will turn to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to your Immaculate Heart to save us, most beloved Mother.
The more the Sacred Heart of Jesus is blasphemed through false devotions, the more I will increase my fervent devotions to Him, most faithful Mother of our Savior.
The more the Church is persecuted, the more I will pray and sacrifice for for her triumph and exaltation, Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Let us pray: most Immaculate Heart of Mary, always obedient to the Eternal Father, teach us to be ever obedient and humble in the face of the diabolical disorientation that has sown such chaos in the Church and disheartened so many. Suffer us not to be scandalized by this long, dark night of the soul of our Church, but to persevere in loving obedience trusting always in your Immaculate Heart and in the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Amen.

The above prayer is one that I composed for my own use from other prayers of reparation, and I offer it for those who might find it useful; you are welcome to modify it as may seem helpful to your devotions. Of course, it is good to check with your priest!

But the best possible reparation for Our Lady is the First Saturdays of Reparation which she asked for so many years ago. Tomorrow is a great time to start!

Archbishop Lefebvre a Conciliarist?

Recently, I came across yet another charge that Archbishop Lefebvre was guilty of the heresy of “conciliarism”. It seems that we traditionalists cannot ever get past this sort of wrangling, which appears to indicate the persistence of the diabolical disorientation Sister Lucia warned of.

To be precise, in the article at issue the quote came at the end of a discussion on the heresy of conciliarism, In the discussion, the author rightly condemned conciliarism:

“It is equally important to understand that when we confront such proposals as the superiority of a General Council over the Pope, or as having the power to judge a Pope or declare him deposed, we are in reality dealing with the same democratic principle in regard to the affairs of the Church – in the words of Pope Pius X, “power ascending from below, rather than from above”. In other words, Concilliarism is simply another form of thinly-disguised democracy in application to the Divine Constitution of the Church.”

Then, speaking of the Great Western Schism and the scandals of the anti-popes, we read,

“All during this time, however, the heresy of Concilliarism (and worse) cultured and grew in the minds and hearts of Catholics. In 1381, a work was published by Heinrich von Langenstein titled Proposition of Peace for the Union and Reformation of the Church by a General Council. Its proposals are summarized by (Dr. Ludwig) Von Pastor:

“. . .Henceforward this most dangerous doctrine of the natural right of necessity was the instrument used in all efforts to put an end to the Schism.” (Dr. Ludwig Von Pastor, p. 183-185).

So far, so good. But then the author inserts the following:

“It is worth noting, in regard to recent Church history, that it was precisely this principle – “necessity breaks the law” – which, in Archbishop Lefebvre’s mind, provided the justification for his ordaining four bishops expressly against a Papal mandate not to do so.”

This insertion is followed immediately by the author’s continued remarks on conciliarism:

“During this period leading up to the Council of Constance, these sort of tracts proliferated. The celebrated Canonist Zabarella, who afterwards became a Cardinal, wrote a treatise which, according to Von Pastor brought to fullness the Concilliarist heresy. In regard to the Pope, Zabarella wrote, “Should he err, the Church must set him right; should he fall into heresy, or be an obstinate schismatic, or commit a notorious crime, the Council may depose him.” (p. 187).”

I am not qualified to debate such respected commentators as the author we are discussing, who has chosen anonymity as I also have. I am, by my own account not particularly adept at the sort of intellectual disputation that makes the traditional Catholic commentariat such a contentious place. But as I have read of this conciliarist heresy, it appears to me to be, as quoted above, and in the words of Canonist, then Cardinal Zabarella, that should the pope err, “the Church must set him right, should he fall into heresy, or be an obstinate schismatic or commit a notorious crime, the Council may depose him.” ”

In none of that do I recognise anything ever espoused by Archbishop Lefebvre. In fact, here are some excerpts from Archbishop Lefebvre’s “Guide to Confused Catholics”

Obedience is a serious matter; to remain united to the Church’s Magisterium and particularly to the Supreme Pontiff is one of the conditions of salvation. We are deeply aware of this and nobody is more attached to the present reigning successor of Peter, or has been more attached to his predecessors, than we are. I am speaking here of myself and of the many faithful driven out of the churches, and also of the priests who are obliged to celebrate Mass in barns as in the French Revolution, and to organize alternative catechism classes in town and country.

We are attached to the Pope for as long as he echoes the apostolic traditions and the teachings of all his predecessors. It is the very definition of the successor of Peter that he is the keeper of this deposit. Pius IX teaches us in Pastor Aeternus: “The Holy Ghost has not in fact been promised to the successors of Peter to permit them to proclaim new doctrine according to His revelations, but to keep strictly and to expound faithfully, with His help, the revelations transmitted by the Apostles, in other words the Deposit of Faith.”

The authority delegated by Our Lord to the Pope, the Bishops and the priesthood in general is for the service of faith. To make use of law, institutions and authority to annihilate the Catholic Faith and no longer to transmit life, is to practise spiritual abortion or contraception.

This is why we are submissive and ready to accept everything that is in conformity with our Catholic Faith, as it has been taught for two thousand years, but we reject everything that is opposed to it.

For the fact is that a grave problem confronted the conscience and the faith of all Catholics during the pontificate of Paul VI. How could a Pope, true successor of Peter, assured of the assistance of the Holy Ghost, preside over the most vast and extensive destruction of the Church in her history within so short a space of time, something that no heresiarch has ever succeeded in doing? One day this question will have to be answered.

In the first half of the Fifth Century, St. Vincent of Lérins, who was a soldier before consecrating himself to God and acknowledged having been “tossed for a long time on the sea of the world before finding shelter in the harbor of faith,” spoke thus about the development of dogma: “Will there be no religious advances in Christ’s Church? Yes, certainly, there will be some very important ones, of such a sort as to constitute progress in the faith and not change. What matters is that in the course of ages knowledge, understanding and wisdom grow in abundance and in depth, in each and every individual as in the churches; provided always that there is identity of dogma and continuity of thought.” Vincent, who had experienced the shock of heresies, gives a rule of conduct which still holds good after fifteen hundred years: “What should the Catholic Christian therefore do if some part of the Church arrives at the point of detaching itself from the universal communion and the universal faith? What else can he do but prefer the general body which is healthy to the gangrenous and corrupted limb? And if some new contagion strives to poison, not just a small part of the Church but the whole Church at once, then again his great concern will be to attach himself to Antiquity which obviously cannot any more be seduced by any deceptive novelty.” (. . .)

“What is suggested to us, what we are expressly invited to do, what we are persecuted for not doing, is to choose an appearance of obedience. But even the Holy Father cannot ask us to abandon our faith.

We therefore choose to keep it and we cannot be mistaken in clinging to what the Church has taught for two thousand years. The crisis is profound, cleverly organized and directed, and by this token one can truly believe that the master mind is not a man but Satan himself. For it is a master-stroke of Satan to get Catholics to disobey the whole of Tradition in the name of obedience.

A typical example is furnished by the “aggiornamento” of the religious societies. By obedience, monks and nuns are made to disobey the laws and constitutions of their founders, which they swore to observe when they made their profession. Obedience in this case should have been a categorical refusal. Even legitimate authority cannot command a reprehensible and evil act. Nobody can oblige anyone to change his monastic vows into simple promises, just as nobody can make us become Protestants or modernists. St. Thomas Aquinas, to whom we must always refer, goes so far in the Summa Theologica as to ask whether the “fraternal correction” prescribed by Our Lord can be exercised towards our superiors. After having made all the appropriate distinctions he replies: “One can exercise fraternal correction towards superiors when it is a matter of faith.”

The entirety of Archbishop Lefebvre’s article is to be found in our sidebar; just click on his picture.

In summary, Archbishop Lefebvre, as I have said on several occasions, was attempting to preserve the sacred priesthood and the most Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, which is nothing less than the immense channel of God’s grace to this poor, satanically oppressed world. I am ashamed to be so poor a defender of him! But if you are in doubt on this, please do these two important things: First, pray Our Lady’s rosary for her guidance; she will never fail you! Second, please read his own writings, his own words, prayerfully. At one time, I too, sided with his detractors, but then, I read his works and was drawn to the Society’s Masses. The very first Mass I attended began with a sublimely beautiful benediction service, followed by a high Mass. I began sobbing during Benediction of the most Blessed Sacrament and occasionally sobbed silently through Mass, overwhelmed by the feelings of devotion flooding back after over forty years of horrid liturgical abuses that had left me spiritually numb. I have never looked back and thank God every day and throughout every day for so generously renewing the great gift of faith.

So many today are really caught up in disputations, and more intent on making divisive distinctions than finding ways to work together to obey Our Lady of Fatima’s Message. They are no longer willing to simply let themselves be led by the Immaculata, as Father Stehlin so aptly recommends. For the Society founded by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre is under her protection. Their priests are her devoted children and know that a Mother such as she will not allow her sons to go astray.

For those who doubt the Society, pray the Rosary and let yourselves be led by the Immaculate Mother of God!

The above article is only my attempt to defend Archbishop Lefebvre from yet another attack on him. I do wish that those who cast aspersions on him would simply note the beautiful fruits yielded by his works! Indeed, I am certain that the restored Church, after the evil ones are cast out, will promptly and unanimously recognize the holy Archbishop for his sanctity and valor in defense of the Faith.

At the Foot of the Manger

From Professor Roberto de Mattei, President and Founder of the Lepanto Foundation we have this beautiful appeal to the Bishops and priests which is “Written at the foot of the Manger, on this First Saturday of January 2019, the Vigil of the Epiphany of the Lord”. It is a great way to begin our year of First Saturdays!

TWENTY-FIVE YEARS LATER …

Twenty-five years ago, on 8 February 1994, the European Parliament voted on a resolution that invited the nations of Europe to promote and give legal protection to homosexuality. In his Angelus address on 20 February 1994, the Holy Father Pope John Paul II appealed to public opinion worldwide, affirming that “the legal approbation of active homosexuality is not morally admissible […]. The Resolution of the European Parliament has called for the legitimization of a moral disorder. The Parliament has unduly given institutional value to deviant behaviors, which do not conform to God’s plan”.

In May of that same year, the Lepanto Cultural Center [Centro Culturale Lepanto] handed out a manifesto in Strasbourg to parliamentary representatives, called “Europe at Strasbourg: Represented or Betrayed?”. The manifesto made an indignant protest against the promotion of a vice condemned by both Christian and Western conscience, and asked the European bishops “to unite their voices to that of the Supreme Pastor [John Paul II] in order to multiply it in their dioceses, by publicly denouncing the moral fault with which the European Assembly has stained itself and warning the flock entrusted to their care of the growing attacks of anti-Christian forces in the world”.

Today, one after another, the principal European nations, including many of those with the most ancient Catholic tradition, have elevated sodomy to a legal right by recognizing, under different forms, so-called “same-sex marriage”and introducing the concept of the crime of “homophobia.” The Pastors of the Church, who should have formed an unbreakable dam of opposition against the homosexualization of society promoted by the political class and by the media-financial oligarchies, have in fact fostered it by their silence. Even at the highest levels of the Church, the practice of homosexuality and of a so-called “gay-friendly” culture that justifies and encourages homosexual vice has spread like a cancer.

A Headless Thing

Thought for today

“The day that a sizable body of Roman Catholics, clergy and laity, become convinced—rightly or wrongly—that the then occupant of the apostolic throne of Peter is not, perhaps never was, a validly elected pope, that day the presently continuous piece-by-piece deterioration of the organizational structure will be quickened into a muffled collapse of the entire organization. The already schism-split and heresy-ridden Roman Catholic body will then be a headless thing, a complicated machine exploding in all directions into fragments, because its secure casing and capstone cover were shattered.

“For the only tangible guarantee Roman Catholics have that a man has truly become Pope is the legal guarantee of valid election in a legal Conclave of legal cardinals. Their faith then assures them that through this man and his predecessors they are in historical relationship with Jesus Christ, who founded the Church, and in supernatural relationship with Christ as he now is in the Heaven of God’s glory. The legality—or validity, to use the ecclesiastical term—of a papal election depends on the exact observance, in the presence of witnesses, of the various visible and controllable procedures laid down in the rules for papal elections.

“The final outcome of the election—a validly elected pope—is attained only with the freely pronounced Accepto of the Pope-elect. This is why Cardinal Laurenti, who became Pope-elect at the Conclave of February 1922, could never be regarded as Pope: He did freely decline to accept the pontificate, having been validly elected by the due majority. No one has to accept the Petrine Office. A pope-elect who refuses to accept is not obliged to explain why he has refused it, just as a pope who resigns the office is not obliged to explain why he has resigned.

“What does the term “freely” mean when we say that the Pope-elect must freely accept or reject his election to the pontificate? Take, for example, the Conclave of 1903, which produced as Pope Pius X Giuseppe Melchiorre Cardinal Sarto. But Sarto was not the prime choice of those sixty-two Cardinal Electors. After one voting session and scrutiny of the votes, on August 1, the first day of the Conclave, it was clear that the required majority (twenty-nine in this instance; Sarto got only five votes in that session) went to Italian-born Mariano Cardinal Rampolla del Tindaro. Rampolla, if allowed, would have pronounced the required Accepto, would therefore have become Pope automatically. But he was not allowed to accept the pontificate.

The Greatest Treason

“The last temptation is the greatest treason:
To do the right deed for the wrong reason.”

( “Murder in the Cathedral”, T. S. Eliot)

In the eleventh century, Saint Peter Damien wrote that, “The popes had politicized the papacy by appropriating its spiritual functions for secular ends.”

In the twentieth century, Father Malachi Martin wrote the following about recent popes, Pius XII, John XXIII, Paul VI, John Paul I and John Paul II,

“Marking the pontificates of each of those men was one fatal error, the use of their spiritual office to obtain leverage in the political, and diplomatic, and civic, and cultural worlds; and then using that leverage instead of the spiritual power and moral authority that was uniquely theirs.”

“And here, Your Eminences, we are at the root cause of our pain, our struggle, and our own deathly peril: our failure and the failure of our popes, to use the Church’s spiritual power to exercise its moral authority.”

This error that Father Malachi Martin and St. Peter Damien refers to, that is, politicizing the papacy by appropriating its spiritual functions for secular ends has been evident in virtually every single act of the current papacy. Its corollary is evident not only in the pope and hierarchy but throughout almost the entirety of the responses of the laity. I refer to the indifference to using the Church’s spiritual power to exercise its moral authority.

Divine Providence Part 2

We are in the midst of the greatest spiritual chastisement in all of salvation history and tragically, most Catholics are not in any way making use of it. If we waste these graces we shall be swept up in the wreckage and perhaps into perdition.

And so, we continue from yesterday’s post regarding the Will of God in all things

Saint-Jure likens the evil-doers to leeches employed by a physician in order to purify and bring about a recovery. For us to focus on the repulsiveness of the leeches, only distracts us from our task of cooperating with the will of God, for the trials we are experiencing are, in the hands of the Divine Physician, merely tools for our salvation. Speaking of the evil-doers, Saint-Jure says,

Whatever their particular views may be, in regard to us they are only instruments of well being, guided by the hand of an all-good, all-wise, all-powerful God who will allow them to act on us only in so far as is of use to us. It is in our interest to welcome instead of trying to repel their assaults, as in very truth they come from God. [Note: Welcome as Christ welcomed His Passion and Death, with humble obedience to God’s will.] And it is the same with all creatures of whatever kind. Not one of them could act upon us unless the power were given it from above. This truth has always been familiar to the minds of those truly enlightened by God. We have a celebrated example in Job. He loses his children and his possessions; he falls from the height of fortune to the depths of poverty. And he says ‘The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away. As it hath pleased the Lord, so is it done. Blessed be the name of the Lord.’

St. Augustine notes,  “Job does not say ‘The Lord gave and the devil hath taken away’ but says, wise that he is, ‘The Lord gave me my children and my possessions, and it is He who has taken them away; it has been done as it has pleased the Lord.’ ”

The Will of Divine Providence

These days, the most difficult thing I do each day is to take a quick tour around the web to face the latest kick in the gut delivered by our “Excellencies”, “Eminences” and especially our “Holy Father”. There is excellent reporting of the events which constitute this assault on the faith from the apostates in charge.  Mr. George Newmayr is doing a great job, (here and here) and so is Lifesite, here. And there are many others, all striving to bring us the truth about the events of this tragic papacy.

But all this news effects me in much the same way as I felt when I was 12 years old and two bullies took turns punching me in the stomach. Come to think of it, both bullies were Catholic “young ladies” for it was a Catholic boarding school. That feeling of sudden astonishment when when I realized that this sort of evil can happen just steps away from such a holy place as the Chapel, followed by the near-despair, I cried out in my prayers, “My God, where are You in all this? Father in heaven, why won’t you help me?” You see, in my young mind, I did not realize He was with me! I could not hear His sweet words, “My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?”

Many readers have expressed the same sentiments. We all need to recall that Our Lord won the victory against satan by appearing to lose it. He embraced the will of the Father and today, He calls us to follow Him. Much of the following essay is drawn from the fine old classic, “Trustful Surrender to Divine Providence” by Father Jean Baptiste Saint-Jure and Saint Claude la Colombière. Be warned beforehand; there are some very hard truths in this.

† . † . †

God is the author of every single thing that occurs in this world. Nothing happens unless God Himself, Who alone is true and perfect goodness and justice, wills it.  Now is a very good time to pause and consider this. We must understand that God could stop this whole torrent of iniquity from washing over us. But He does not. Why?

And the Sixth Angel Sounded the Trumpet

“One woe is past, and behold there come yet two woes more hereafter. And the sixth angel sounded the trumpet:”

[13] … and I heard a voice from the four horns of the great altar, which is before the eyes of God, [14] Saying to the sixth angel, who had the trumpet: Loose the four angels, who are bound in the great river Euphrates. [15] And the four angels were loosed, who were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year: for to kill the third part of men.

[16] And the number of the army of horsemen was twenty thousand times ten thousand. And I heard the number of them. [17] And thus I saw the horses in the vision: and they that sat on them, had breastplates of fire and of hyacinth and of brimstone, and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions: and from their mouths proceeded fire, and smoke, and brimstone. [18] And by these three plagues was slain the third part of men, by the fire and by the smoke and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths. [19] For the power of the horses is in their mouths, and in their tails. For, their tails are like to serpents, and have heads: and with them they hurt. [20] And the rest of the men, who were not slain by these plagues, did not do penance from the works of their hands, that they should not adore devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and wood, which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:

[21] Neither did they penance from their murders, nor from their sorceries, nor from their fornication, nor from their thefts. (Apocalypse Chapter 9, verses 13-21)

With the Sixth Angel’s Trumpet, we are introduced to the most severe chastisement so far. St. John himself seems to expect disbelief at the vastness of it, for when he announces that the army of horsemen numbers “20,000 times 10,000”, that is, 200,000,000, he quickly asserts, “And I heard the number of them”, thus confirming this number is from the Holy Ghost, and not his own conjecture.

Sculpture in Vatican Hall portraying the Conciliar/ Modernist Vision of their anti-Church.

The Great Altar is Christ our Savior,  and it is He who commands the four fallen angels be released. That these angels are fallen is clear because they have been bound. That Jesus is allowing them to be free is evidence of His justice, which has been so long mocked with false mercy of hypocrites. The Great Altar emphasises Christ’s perfect sacrifice for us on Calvary and in the true Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. This vision is directly related to the abuses of the Mass, such as stripping it of its sacrificial nature, and the abuses of the faith, carried out by the leaders of the Church, those who are most called to protect, promote and defend the Faith.

He Is Not Sleeping!

“And when He entered into the boat, His disciples followed Him: And behold a great tempest arose in the sea, so that the boat was covered with waves, but He was asleep. And they came to Him, and awaked Him, saying: ‘Lord, save us, we perish.’ And Jesus saith to them: ‘Why are you fearful, O ye of little faith?’ Then rising up He commanded the winds, and the sea, and there came a great calm. But the men wondered, saying: ‘What manner of man is this, for the winds and the sea obey Him?’ “  (Matt. 8, 23-27)

He is not sleeping! He is chastening us! This is the spiritual chastisement which will deepen until we obey.

The quote above was from the reading for yesterday’s Gospel, the 24th Sunday after Pentecost. This Gospel is often applied today to the situation we are suffering through with the current pope of affliction who appears to be determined to sink the Barque of Peter, imperilling all within it. The concept of Our Lord sleeping through the storm which threatens us is a popular one with many Catholic sites today. A dear reader sent me one such quote from a prominent blog which took that view. Now, before we discuss the quote, please understand that I am not attacking another Catholic writer, but simply offering a perspective which keeps getting overlooked by many influential writers.

Now, let’s take a look at the quote which was sent to me:

“How could we expect God to turn a blind eye to the sacrilege and heresy that is endemic to almost every Novus Ordo Mass offered on the planet for the last 49 years – while the entire Church sat in the silence of complicity, more concerned with worldly approval than the Sacred, Wounded Heart of Our Blessed Lord, and His Mother?

“So, yes, He is sleeping under the poop as the storm rages, but we must remember His admonition: Why are you fearful? have you not faith yet? He will rise up, and He will say, “Peace, be still.” And the Barque of Peter will be saved from these devils, and it will lower its nets and bring in a great harvest of souls. We know this. We CANNOT doubt this.

“So, while I, in my weakness, like everyone else, keep thinking, “Please wake up, please wake up, we’re dying, we’re dying”, -these very words are in today’s Gospel and repeated again as nothing less than the antiphon of the Magnificat at Vespers:Lord, save us: * we perish; give the word, O God, and let there be a great calm!I am just going to go back to the poop deck and kneel down next to Him, stare at His Holy Face and keep whispering: Wake up, wake up. Save us. We are perishing.See you on the poop deck! Wake up… wake up.”

The above quote was from Bishop Rene Gracida’s post, “For reasons known only to the Lord, He seems to be asleep on the Barque of Peter but we have confidence that when He ‘wakes’ He will calm the hurricane Bergoglia” , in which he was quoting Barnhardt’s post, “We Perish! And Yet He Snoozeth on the Poop Deck” here. Please do note that I am not intending to attack either writer, but to provide what I hope will be a helpful interpretation of the storm in the light of Our Lady’s message at Fatima.

Thirty-two years of Assisi vs. Christ the King

On this day in 1986, Pope John Paul II presided over the sacrilegious “ecumenical” meeting in Assisi. Since tomorrow is the great feastday of Christ the King, it is a good idea to consider the affront offered to Our Lord on that dismal day and the response to it by a faithful prelate.

The following is from a talk given by Archbishop Lefebvre on June 29, 1987. (Link)

“We wrote the book that appeared just a few days ago, entitled: “They Uncrowned Him.”  Who? Who did the uncrowning and who was uncrowned? Who was uncrowned? Our Lord Jesus Christ. Who uncrowned him? The authorities in Rome today. And the uncrowning shows in a very clear way in the Assisi ceremony. Jesus Christ is uncrowned. He is no longer King. Universal King, the King we proclaim in our liturgy from Christmas through to His Ascension. All the Liturgical feasts proclaim the kingship of Our Lord Jesus Christ. . From end to end of the Liturgical year we chant:

“King of Kings, Lord of Lords,” Our Lord Jesus Christ. But now instead of extolling the kingship of Our Lord Jesus Christ, here they are instituting a pantheon of all religions. And just as it was the Roman authorities, or pagan emperors, who built the pagan Pantheon then, so too the pagan pantheon of today, the meeting-place of all religions, is being constructed by the church authorities of Rome! What an immense scandal for souls, for Catholics who already question the universal kingship of Our Lord Jesus Christ!

This is exactly what is meant by liberalism. Liberalism means establishing the freedom of man from God; hence the man who believes in, hopes in, and professes any religion whatsoever is just as worthy of respect as the man who says he professes the true religion.

And Holy Mass proves it to us: there is one law, a law of love, and Our Lord Jesus Christ proclaims to us on the Cross this law of love. He preaches it to us. He tells us. “You must obey the law of love. Whosoever does not obey the law of love is not worthy of eternal life.” Hence it is a binding law. We are not free. Our holy religion is not a matter of free choice, it is the only one, the one which Our Lord Jesus Christ proclaimed from His Cross.

And liberalism has become the idol of modern times, an idol now adored in most countries of the world, even the Catholic countries – this liberty of man from God, which defies God, which seeks to make its own religion, liberalism, with its own commandments, the rights of man, with its secular states, secular education, empty of God, godless – there is liberalism for you.

DARKNESS IN ROME

And how is it possible for the authorities in Rome to be encouraging liberalism and professing such liberalism in the Decree on Religious Liberty? That is what is so very serious, as I see it. Rome is in darkness, in the darkness of error. There is no denying it. Impossible to deny it. How can we as Catholics, and all the more as priests, bear to look on the spectacle placed before our eyes in Assisi, in St. Peter’s Church given over for the practice of their pagan worship to the Buddhists who put their idol on the tabernacle of Jesus Christ, King of Kings, and performed their pagan ceremony in front of this tabernacle, empty no doubt, but capped with a Buddha, their idol. Is it conceivable? In a Catholic Church, a church of Our Lord Jesus Christ? These are facts which speak by themselves. We cannot conceive of an error more grave.

For our part, however, if we wish to remain Catholic and to continue the Church, we have the grave and imprescriptible duty binding us firstly to increase the number of priests, priests believing in Our Lord Jesus Christ, in His Kingship, in His kingship over society, according to the Church’s doctrine. That is why I am happy that the book on liberalism has appeared today, my dear friends, so that you may nourish your minds on it and grasp in depth what our combat is all about. It is not a human combat! We are at grips with Satan! It is a combat requiring all the supernatural strength we need to fight against the adversary who means to destroy and uproot the Church, who means to destroy everything Our Lord Jesus Christ did. He meant to destroy Our Lord from the moment He was born, and now he means to continue destroying His Mystical Body, to destroy the reign of Our Lord Jesus Christ, to destroy all His institutions whatsoever.

So we must be aware of this dramatic and apocalyptic combat through which we are living, and not play it down, because the moment we play it down, we no longer wish to give battle, we become weaklings and we dare no longer proclaim the Truth; we no longer dare to proclaim the social kingship of Our Lord Jesus Christ because our godless and atheistic world does not want to hear of it. To say that Our Lord Jesus Christ should reign over societies is folly as far as the world is concerned. “You are backward-looking, out-of-date fossils, stuck fast in the Middle Ages”, we hear, “that doctrine is over and done with, it belongs to the past! Let’s hear no more of Our Lord Jesus Christ reigning over societies!”

And so we might tend to be afraid of this public opinion opposing us because we stand for the kingship of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Let us in any case not be surprised to find that any demonstrations of ours in favour of the Social Kingship of Our Lord Jesus Christ come up against an army directed by Satan to destroy us, to hinder and nullify any influence we might have.

THE SOCIETY’S CONTINUATION

Hence we are happy today to be carrying out these priestly ordinations, and in all sincerity we think it is not possible to abandon the Society of St. Pius X placed in our hands by the good Lord. For it is not I that founded it, it is truly Our Lord who founded it, in unbelievable circumstances. And now, after some 17 years of existence, our Society has spread throughout the world, seconded by other initiatives which – thanks be to God – have arisen with us and around us: all the religious and nuns with us today, who have stood up like ourselves, to proclaim that Our Lord Jesus Christ is King, and not to desert Him. Are we going to desert Him? Are we going to let Him be crucified a second time? Are we going to quit the Church presently undergoing her Passion, and not come to her aid? And what will become of souls if nobody dares any longer proclaim the divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ? And what will become of souls if we no longer provide them with the true grace they need? All this is cryingly obvious, and so let us be convinced of it.

MEANS OF CONTINUATION

And that is the reason why it is likely that I shall give myself some successors to be able to continue the work of our Society. Because Rome is in darkness, because Rome at present can no longer hear the voice of truth – Rome no longer hears the voice of truth. Then what are we to do? What answer has there been to our appeals? For 20 years now I have been going to Rome. I have been writing, I have been speaking, I have been sending documents to say to them: – “Follow Tradition, come back to Tradition, otherwise the Church will be ruined. You, the appointed successors of those who built the Church, you must continue to build and not to demolish!” They are deaf, stone deaf to our appeals.

And the last document we have just received from them proves it amply. They are shutting themselves up in their errors, they are shutting themselves up in darkness, and they are quite simply going to lead souls into apostasy, the ruination of the divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the ruination of the Catholic and Christian Faith. Well, if that is what God asks of us, we shall not hesitate to provide ourselves with auxiliaries to continue the work of the Society, for we cannot believe that God wishes this work to be destroyed, to come to an end, to continue no further, for souls to be abandoned and for the Church by that very fact to have no more pastors.

ABNORMAL TIMES

We are living in a quite unique age, we must realize that. The situation is not normal, least of all in Rome. Read the Italian journal “Si, si, no, no”, edited by the dear Sisters who are here today, who have come to see Econe and to get some encouragement for the work they are doing. The journal “Si, si, no, no” gives us precise information on the situation in Rome, a perfectly incredible situation, unparallelled in all history! Never has there been anything like it!

Never! – The Pope making himself, as I was saying a little while ago, into a sort of guardian of the Pantheon of all religions, making himself the Pontiff of Liberalism! Tell me, tell me, pray – has such a situation ever existed in the Church? What are we to do, faced with such a reality? Weep, no doubt. Oh. weep, we do! Our heart is grieved, our heart is crushed by this situation! We would give our life, we would shed our blood to turn it around – but there it is.

. . .

My dear friends, my dear brethren, let us pray. Let us pray with all our hearts, let us pray to the Blessed Virgin Mary! We shall go to Fatima on August 22nd to ask Our Lady of Fatima to help us. They would not reveal her Third Secret, they buried the message of the Virgin Mary. No doubt this message was meant to prevent what is happening today. Had her message been made known, most likely we would not be where we are today, the situation in Rome, would not be what it is today.

The Pope refused to make public the Virgin Mary’s message: well, the punishments foretold by Mary are coming: the apostasy announced in Scripture is on its way; the coming of the Anti-Christ draws near, as is perfectly obvious. So, faced with this quite exceptional situation, we too must take exceptional means.

† . † . †

Dear readers, these are exceptional times, and in times like these, we need more than ever to cling to the faith, not depart from it! We need most especially, to confirm each other in the faith! By our daily sacrifices, especially those which only we are aware of, by little efforts at patience, forgiveness, generosity, we are blessed by Our Lady with the special graces she is allowed by Our Heavenly Father for assisting the faithful in these sad times. She dispenses God’s graces and mercy towards us, knowing how weak we are, knowing how easily we get discouraged.

For 32 years now, this grievous insult has stood in flagrant opposition to Christ the King, offered by the anti-Christic forces in power and supported by the popes who represent not God but His ancient enemy. Despite what you may hear on every other purported traditional Catholic site, please understand the importance of returning to the message of Fatima and . offering anew the humble, obedient sacrifices of reparation that are demanded. Only by humility and obedience can this evil of pride and disobedience be driven from the Church. Only in this way can the world have peace. Until Christ our King is proclaimed, there can be no peace, but only the reign of deceit, lust and despair resulting from apostasy.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of our hearts, Mother of the Church, do thou offer to the Eternal Father the Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, for the conversion of poor sinners, especially our Pontiff.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy kingdom come! Viva Cristo Rey!

~ by evensong for love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, King.
Vouchsafe that I may praise thee, O Sacred Virgin! Give me strength against thine enemies!
