Putting the Horse Before the Cart

Today, just a very brief note to clarify an item which was commented on recently. As I responded to a commenter’s observations regarding the importance of the traditional Latin Mass, it struck me that perhaps many today are missing an important chronology or sequence.

The Traditional Latin Mass is the very core of tradition. That remark would bring a nod of assent from traditional Catholics of all flavors, and it is perhaps the only thing they would agree on. But how many traditionals have a vital devotion to the holy rosary? How many wear the brown scapular of Our Lady? How many practice her First Saturdays of Reparation? How many have completed and live Total Consecration to her Immaculate Heart?

In short, how many Catholics who are avid devotees of the TLM are devoted to the Message of Fatima?

Tell me, how did the Church lose the true Mass?

Clue, “It will be clearer then.”

For those who wonder about these things, we lost the Mass because God was not obeyed. In His infinite mercy, He offered us a last means to avert the horrible chastisement brought on by our persistence in sin. And now that chastisement has increased to the point where we have an anti-Catholic pope and a world so consumed by sin that it has made diabolical deception legally binding —  with every form of perversion promoted, from sodomy, to infanticide to euthanasia to outright satanism. Cold blooded murderers have their right-to-life defended by this pope while the most innocent and helpless are sacrificed with the consent of the same pope on the altar of the environment. This evil coalesces and we shall soon see the forces of nature responding to this unbearable weight of iniquity.

“I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world”

Trinity Sunday, 2019.  For our accustomed post, see: Trinity Sunday.

“At that time, Jesus said to His disciples: All power is given to Me in Heaven and on earth. Going therefore, teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.”

This was really quite “un-ecumenical” of Our Lord, wasn’t it?  I’m surprised our humble pope has not corrected Our Lord for His errors. For, with these few words, Our Lord states some essentials of the faith:

The Holy Trinity
This is the Catholic Faith

He clearly establishes His divinity: “All power is given to Me”.

“Teach all nations”, that is, He establishes the teaching magisterium of the Church. Note that He is not instructing them to print Bibles and distribute them for each man to interpret themselves. Nor is He commanding them to preach ecology, population control, “tolerance” for perversion and marxist materialism.

“Baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost”. In this, He establishes the first and most essential sacrament and also states the foundation of our Catholic faith, belief in the triune God. This refutes the false ecumenism of Pope Francis, which betrays Christ the King.

“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.” This reinforces the teaching authority of the Church, and also proof that faith alone is not sufficient for salvation.

“I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.” Christ will be with the Church through all ages. This is the basis for our hope, even in perilous times like these.

Pope Francis continues in his efforts to dismantle the framework of the Church, especially by attacking the elements listed above,. Today, in the United States of America, we also celebrate Father’s Day and so we consider the Trinity, particularly the role of God as our Eternal Father. It is natural that those who attack the dogma of the Most Holy Trinity from within the Church itself, should also attack the family, and even the hierarchical structure of the Church itself.

This three pronged attack, on the dogma of the Trinity, the hierarchy of the Church and the family, arises from within the Church, even from the very apex of the Church, from the man who claims to be Vicar of Christ, Pope Francis. Why is this happening? What can we expect and what must be done?

It is happening because of the unholy trinity of age-old sins, i.e.,  the concupiscence of the flesh, and the concupiscence of the eyes, and the pride of life , which is not of the Father, but is of the world. (1 John, 2, 16). These sins have become a deluge in the church under the corrupt and disobedient popes.

Our Lord Jesus Christ founded His Church as an absolute monarchy, with a fallible human being at the head, as His Vicar. This fragile institution is only strong insofar as the Vicar of Christ relies on Him whose Vicar he is to sustain and guide him. Almighty God in His Providence, has designed this so that we may — must! —  work with Him to keep the Church strong. In brief, we get the Pope — and the Church — that we deserve. How can we expect the pope to be faithful, if we ourselves are indifferent to God’s law?

The Vision of Tuy, 1929

“The moment has come … ”

With these words, Our Lady of Fatima began the most significant and mystical vision of all the Marian apparitions when she appeared to Sister Lúcia at Tuy on June 13, 1929.

In this post we will attempt to understand the vision and its message for us today in light of the Apocalypse and recent events.

Previously, in Apocalypse 12 we saw that great red dragon, whom Pope Leo XIII referred to as, “the ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan” go to war against the Woman clothed with the Sun, and prepare to make war with “her seed”, the faithful Church.  Chapter 12 ends:

And the dragon was angry against the woman: and went to make war with the rest of her seed, who keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.  And he stood upon the sand of the sea.

Now, we arrive at Apocalypse 13, which reveals the strategy of the dragon, which is satan. In her book, “Beyond Politics”, Solange Hertz describes the scene for us,

Before St. John’s eyes a diabolic trinity began taking shape which appears to be a blasphemous parody of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. The Apostle sees a beast coming up out of the sea, followed by another beast coming from the earth. These two are joined in a close relationship with each other and with the Dragon, who is, of course, Satan himself, and who animates and directs them in such a way that the three operate as one. St. John saw the Dragon give the first beast “his own strength and great power,” so that the reprobates “adored the dragon which gave power to the beast.” The second beast also derives his power from the Dragon, but through the medium of the first beast. We are told, “He executed all the power of the former beast in his sight; and he caused the earth and them that dwell therein to adore the first beast,” just as this first beast had caused them to adore the Dragon. Thus the Dragon mimics the role of God the Father in the Blessed Trinity, source of both the Son and the Holy Ghost, whose parts are played by the two Beasts in the diabolic threesome.

What does St. John tell us of this second beast, the one who arises from the earth, which is symbolic of the Church?

“And I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns, like a lamb, and he spoke as a dragon. And he executed all the power of the former beast in his sight; and he caused the earth, and them that dwell therein, to adore the first beast, whose wound to death was healed.” (Apocalypse 13, 11-12)

Thus, we see that this second beast appears as a lamb, but “he spoke as a dragon”. This warns us that although the beast masquerades as the leader of Christians, he has a diabolic agenda. The reader will draw his own conclusions. For now, we simply point out that St. John’s vision of the diabolical trinity also represents a  reversal of Christendom.  In the diabolical vision, the State derives from Satan and then, the so-called “Church” (one world religion of man) derives from the State and serves the State, not God. This is the direct reversal of Christendom in which Christ reigns over all. This vision is the same as that proposed by Pope Paul VI at the close of Vatican II and most thoroughly exemplified by the new Bergoglian church, which occupies the Vatican and seeks now to draw all  into its deadly grasp, the Franciscans of the Immaculate, the Sovereign Military Order of the Knights of Malta, and reached for the Society of St. Pius X (albeit unsuccessfully!). And who is there to withstand him?

Let us compare that vision of St. John’s with the remarkable vision granted to Sister Lucia at Tuy, June 13, 1929.

The Vision of Tuy

The moment has come …

Suddenly a supernatural light illumined the whole chapel and on the altar appeared a cross of light which reached to the ceiling.  In a brighter part could be seen, on the upper part of the Cross, the face of a man and His body to the waist;  On His breast was an equally luminous dove,  and nailed to the cross, the body of another man.

A little below the waist, suspended in mid-air, was to be seen a Chalice and a large Host on to which fell some drops of Blood from the face of the Crucified and from a wound in His breast. These drops ran down over the Host and fell into the Chalice.

Under the right arm of the Cross was Our Lady with Her Immaculate Heart in Her hand … (It was Our Lady of Fatima with Her Immaculate Heart… in Her left hand… without a sword or roses, but with a crown of thorns and flames…)

Under the left arm (of the Cross), some big letters, as it were of crystal-clear water running down over the Altar, formed these words: “Grace and Mercy”.

“I understood that it was the mystery of the Most Holy Trinity that was shown to me …”

Then Our Lady said to me:

The Second Visit, 1917

We offer our traditional post for June 13, a day early because we have a special post for you for tomorrow.

“Don’t lose heart. I will never forsake you. My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God.”

On the feast of St. Anthony, June 13, 1917, Francisco, Jacinta and Lúcia returned as they had promised the Lady. At this visit, Our Lady made three requests:

“I wish you to come here on the 13th of next month, to pray the Rosary each day, and to learn how to read. Later, I will tell you what I want.”

Lúcia then ventured to make a courageous request:  “I would like to ask you to take us to Heaven.”

“Yes, I will take Jacinta and Francisco soon. But you are to stay here some time longer. Jesus wishes to make use of you to make Me known and loved. He wants to establish in the world devotion to My Immaculate Heart. To whoever embraces this devotion I promise salvation; these souls shall be dear to God, as flowers placed by Me to adorn His throne.”

Lúcia:  “Am I to stay here alone?”

“No, My daughter. Do you suffer a great deal? Don’t lose heart. I will never forsake you. My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God.”

Lúcia then tells us,

“As Our Lady spoke these last words, She opened Her hands and for the second time, She communicated to us the rays of that immense light. We saw ourselves in this light, as it were, immersed in God. Jacinta and Francisco seemed to be in that part of the light which rose towards Heaven, and I in that which was poured out on the earth.

“In front of the palm of Our Lady’s right hand was a heart encircled by thorns which pierced it. We understood that this was the Immaculate Heart of Mary, outraged by the sins of humanity and seeking reparation.

Frère Michel de la Sainte Trinité comments on this sublime vision:

” …  through the rays coming forth from the hands of Mary, they saw themselves submerged in God … and in the great light of God, it was given to them to contemplate the secret of Mary, to see Her pierced Heart. ‘In front of the palm of Our Lady’s right hand was a heart encircled by thorns which pierced it. We understood that this was the Immaculate Heart of Mary, outraged by the sins of humanity, and seeking reparation.’ ”  Continue reading “The Second Visit, 1917”

The Divine Conspiracy

We offer today for the grand feast of Pentecost a new post. For our accustomed post see here.

To most, conspiracy means roughly, a plot, or plan, usually with nefarious intent. But if we consider the Latin roots, we see that “conspiratio” is basically a breathing with, that is, breathing in unison. Solange Hertz, explains that the original conspiracy, “derives from that ineffable cooperation of divine persons in the Most Holy Trinity, where the Father and the Son act as one in the bond of the Holy Ghost. Through the mediation of the Son made man, the trinitarian cooperations have been projected into, nay, actually joined with those of mankind.”

‘”A mystical transubstantiation of human society, as it were, not only became possible, but actually began. Human society would be changed, not in its form, which remains the same, but in its substance. This plan of heaven’s to take over the world by supernaturalizing its inhabitants may properly be called the Holy Ghost’s Conspiracy. Like the devil’s, it is something only faith can explain. Unlike the devil’s, however, it will succeed, and it will have no end. It began with natural creation, when as yet “the earth was void and empty, and darkness was upon the face of the deep,” when “the spirit of God moved over the waters.” (Gen. 1:2). This life giving breath of the Father and the Son, which produced everything that exists, has never ceased its divine action and is at work even now. The first natural creation in the beginning was merely a foundation for the transcendent supernatural creation which was to follow and is still in progress. The Psalmist, foreseeing the “mighty wind coming” which would reach a climax with the birth of the Church at the first Pentecost, uttered in prophecy the verse (the church) would pray ever after, all over the world, for the commemoration of this feast: Emitte Spiritum tuum et creabuntur, et renovabis faciem terrae! “Send forth Thy spirit, and they shall be created: and Thou shalt renew the face of the earth!” (Ps. 103:30).

Scripture tells us the promised renewal began in Jerusalem, only ten days after our Lord’s Ascension, when the sound of a gale blowing from heaven ‘filled the whole house.’ Dispatching this mighty gust to the earth was our Lord’s first official exercise of the royal power He assumed when He mounted His throne in heaven. The Vulgate calls it a spiritus vehemens, a spiration so violent and fiery, that all who breathed it began prophesying on the spot, being ‘filled with the Holy Ghost.’ And with that the Christian Conspiracy was underway. Under the headship of St. Peter, God’s one, holy, universal and apostolically stable world government was inaugurated on earth. It is indefectible and will continue eternally, for it is the Church. The satanic forces have every reason to tremble before its advance, for the business of the Church is not confined to piety in the private sector. Nor is it exclusively spiritual. It threatens the princedom of this world with dissolution down to its roots, materially, visibly, really, politically…”

Hertz reminds us that, “History is the record of an apocalyptic struggle between those two primordial kingdoms – that of God and that of the devil.”  And so,

“The devil likewise seeks adoptive progeny among those allowing themselves to be led by his inspirations into conspiring with his breath. Today the Holy Ghost’s Conspiracy seems actually to be withering under (Satan’s) assaults, some of its key positions occupied by hell’s henchmen. Obviously the trouble cannot lie with the high command in heaven and must be looked for in the lower echelons. There, as with all conspiracies, the causes of recreance are pretty much always the same: breakdowns in communication, relaxation of discipline, supply failures or outright insubordination and defection.

Supernaturally, these translate easily enough into insufficient prayer and mortification, neglect of Mass and the Sacraments, and flouting the commandments and counsels of God or His Church. Deficiencies in any of these areas are sufficient to explain corporate loss of morale, social failures ultimately resting as they do on those of individuals. There can be no conversion of society where men do not conform their wills to God’s.”

Satan tirelessly labors to build his earthly kingdom by man-made democracies and then, by socialist tyrannies independent of God. Ever the master pitchman, he sells licentiousness as liberty, and enslavement as freedom. But against this sham of satan’s earthly kingdom, the Holy Ghost continues even in the darkest times to breathe forth His vivifying Spirit…pursuing His eternal work. Hertz quotes an Indian saying, “A tree falling makes more noise than a forest growing.” Indeed, today, once mighty trees are falling and we tend to allow that calamitous racket to obscure the beautiful forest which grows silently, for God’s mighty kingdom proceeds by sacrifice even to martyrdom and there abides this silent but powerful growth amidst the confusion and despair of the kingdom of the deceiver.

Hertz notes of these tress falling, ,”(These) failures serve only to clear the way for the living wood. Amid the din of crashes, the Holy Ghost’s Christian Conspiracy pursues its eternal work. Without Him who established the very heavens “by the breath of His mouth” (Ps.32:6), no organized endeavor comes to fruition. With Him, no endeavor can fail.”

She continues,

Propelled by that gentle zephyr with hurricane force we call the Spirit of God, the Conspiracy spread over the earth like wildfire as soon as it was loosed among men. Beginning with the Roman Empire, it effected exactly what conspiracies are supposed to effect: a world takeover. Transforming every obstacle in its path, it eventually left Byzantium to its errors and established in the west upon the Rock of Peter that incomparable new world order known as Christendom. As an empire it was not perfect, but it disseminated the seeds of the divine Conspiracy everywhere, even discovering on its way another whole hemisphere in America for future operations. At that first Pentecost “the multitude of believers had but one heart and one soul” (Acts. 4:32), who drew the divine breath in common, and despite all appearances to the contrary, they still do.

Inevitably the universal kingdom under Christ the King for which their conspiracy was forged will succeed. They can be certain of this, for God promised it to His Mother. Before the King was born she was told:”He shall be great and shall be called the Son of the most High; and the Lord God shall give Him the throne of David His father; and He shall reign in the house of Jacob forever. And of His kingdom there shall be no end” (Luke 1:32-3).

Mrs. Hertz wrote the above a generation ago, and since her time, many traditional Catholics have watched with an increasing feeling of helplessness as the situation in the Church has gone into ever deeper apostasy and darkness deepens over us all. But even as the Passion of Christ’s Bride, the Church, continues to its bitter end, and we continue with her, we await the coming of the Spirit – beyond the bitter end – the infinitely tender, infinitely loving Spirit. (Much of above thanks to Hertz, Utopia Nowhere, Kindle Edition here.)

And all shall be well, and
All manner of thing shall be well
By the purification of the motive
In the ground of our beseeching

The dove descending breaks the air
With flame of incandescent terror
Of which the tongues declare
The one discharge from sin and error.
The only hope, or else despair
Lies in the choice of pyre or pyre–
To be redeemed from fire by fire.

Who then devised the torment? Love.
Love is the unfamiliar Name
Behind the hands that wove
The intolerable shirt of flame
Which human power cannot remove.
We only live, only suspire
Consumed by fire or fire.
        (T. S. Eliot, Little Gidding)

My apologies for springing the poetry on you, but only poetry can jump the vast chasm at times like these. All things are rushing to a precipitous conclusion. In the beginning there was darkness “upon the face of the deep; and the spirit of God moved over the waters.” Again, “from the sixth hour there was darkness over the whole earth, until the ninth hour. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying: Eli, Eli, lamma sabacthani? that is, My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?”

After the darkness and the dark cold tomb, a burst of intolerable light and then, in due time, the mighty wind and tongues of flame. What shall we see? What think you?

Pray the Rosary!

The Fuentes Interview, 1957

Today, we provide the text of the well-known, (but not as well-understood) interview which Sister Lúcia granted to Father Augustin Fuentes the day after Christmas, 1957. Our source is Volume III of Frère Michel de la Sainte Trinité’s The Whole Truth About Fatima.  My comments in red follow  the quotes from Frère Michel.

Sister Lúcia’s 1957 interview with Father Augustin Fuentes

Father Augustin Fuentes was a Mexican priest, the vice-postulator of the causes for beatification of Francisco and Jacinta,  and simultaneously postulator for the causes of the Mexican martyrs under the Masonic persecution of Elias Calles (1924-1928).  In effect, he had the privilege of speaking at length with the Fatima seer on December 26, 1957. He had already met Sister Lúcia on August 10, 1955. After his return to Mexico, on May 22, 1958, he gave a conference to the mother-house of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart and Our Lady of Guadalupe. During this conference he reported Sister Lúcia’s words. The account of this conference was published, Father Alonso stresses, ‘with every guarantee of authenticity and with due episcopal approval, including that of the Bishop of Leiria.’ Father Fuentes made it clear that this was a message received ‘from the very lips of the principal seer.’ Here are the excerpts of the original Spanish text quoted by Father Alonso: [Note: Fr. Alonso was the official Archivist of Fatima.]

Father Fuentes’ introduction: “I wish only to tell you about the last conversation which I had with Sister Lúcia on the 26th of December last year. I met her in her convent. She was very sad, very pale and emaciated. She said to me:

“Father, the Most Holy Virgin is very sad because no one has paid any attention to Her message, neither the good nor the bad. The good continue on their way but without giving any importance to Her Message. The bad, not seeing the punishment of God actually falling upon them, continue their life of sin without even caring about the message. But believe me, Father, God will chastise the world and this will be in a terrible manner. The punishment from Heaven is imminent.

Father, how much time is there before 1960 arrives? It will be very sad for everyone, not one person will rejoice at all if beforehand the world does not pray and do penance. I am not able to give any other details because it is still a secret. According to the will of the Most Holy Virgin, only the Holy Father and the Bishop of Fatima are permitted to know the secret, but they have chosen to not know it so that they would not be influenced. This is the third part of the Message of Our Lady which will remain secret until 1960.  [The “punishment from Heaven” so “sad for everyone”  was the refusal by Pope John XXIII to obey Our Lady of Fatima’s clearly stated wishes to reveal her secret in 1960. This refusal to obey God set in motion the tragic chain of events which has resulted in the auto demolition of the faith.]

“Tell them Father, that many times, the Most Holy Virgin told my cousins Francisco and Jacinta, as well as myself, that many nations will disappear from the face of the earth. She said that Russia will be the instrument of chastisement chosen by Heaven to punish the whole world if we do not beforehand obtain the conversion of that poor nation… [This refers to both the second portion, that is, the material chastisement and the third portion, the spiritual chastisement. Thus, the spiritual devastation of nations along with the actual material disappearance of entire nations.]

Father, the devil is in the mood for engaging in a decisive battle against the Blessed Virgin. And the devil knows what it is that most offends God and which in a short space of time will gain for him the greatest number of souls. Thus the devil does everything to overcome souls consecrated to God, because in this way the devil will succeed in leaving the souls of the faithful abandoned by their leaders, thereby the more easily will he seize them.

That which afflicts the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Heart of Jesus is the fall of religious and priestly souls. The devil knows that religious and priests who fall away from their beautiful vocation drag numerous souls to hell… The devil wishes to take possession of consecrated souls. He tries to corrupt them in order to lull to sleep the souls of laypeople and thereby lead them to final impenitence. He employs all tricks, even going so far as to suggest the delay of entrance into religious life. Resulting from this is the sterility of the interior life, and among the laypeople, coldness (lack of enthusiasm) regarding the subject of renouncing pleasures and the total dedication of themselves to God.

Tell them also Father, that my cousins Francisco and Jacinta sacrificed themselves because in all the apparitions of the Most Holy Virgin, they always saw Her very sad. She never smiled at us. This sadness, this anguish which we noted in Her penetrated our souls. This sadness is caused by the offenses against God and the punishments which menace sinners. And so, we children did not know what to think except to invent various means of praying and making sacrifices. (…) The other thing which sanctified these children was to see the vision of hell. [The vision of Hell, and the Devotion to the Immaculate heart to save them, is the first portion of the secret.]

Father, that is why my mission is not to indicate to the world the material punishments which are certain to come if the world does not pray and do penance beforehand. No! My mission is to indicate to everyone the imminent danger we are in of losing our souls for all eternity if we remain obstinate in sin.   [She here points to the spiritual chastisement.  We must maintain our focus on our eternal souls. Yes, the material chastisement is proceeding apace, because the requirements of the second portion of Our Lady’s Secret were never fulfilled, as we have stated often in these pages. But even more serious dangers face us in the eternal damnation of millions of souls, entire nations of souls damned forever due to false mercy and the utter prostitution of the true Faith.]

Father, we should not wait for an appeal to the world to come from Rome on the part of the Holy Father, to do penance. Nor should we wait for the call to penance to come from our bishops in our diocese, nor from the religious congregations. No! Our Lord has already very often used these means and the world has not paid attention. That is why now, it is necessary for each one of us to begin to reform himself spiritually. Each person must not only save his own soul but also all the souls that God has placed on our path…

The devil does all in his power to distract us and to take away from us the love for prayer; we shall be saved together or we shall be damned together.

Father, the Most Holy Virgin did not tell me that we are in the last times of the world but She made me understand this for three reasons.

The first reason is because She told me that the devil is in the mood for engaging in a decisive battle against the Virgin. And a decisive battle is the final battle where one side will be victorious and the other side will suffer defeat. Hence from now on we must choose sides. Either we are for God or we are for the devil. There is no other possibility.

The second reason is because She said to my cousins as well as to myself that God is giving two last remedies to the world. These are the Holy Rosary and Devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. These are the last two remedies which signify that there will be no others.

The third reason is because, in the plans of Divine Providence, God always, before He is about to chastise the world, exhausts all other remedies. Now, when He sees that the world pays no attention whatsoever, then, as we say in our imperfect manner of speaking, He offers us with a certain trepidation the last means of salvation, His Most Holy Mother. It is with a certain trepidation because if you despise and repulse this ultimate means we will not have any more forgiveness from Heaven because we will have committed a sin which the Gospel calls the sin against the Holy Spirit. This sin consists of openly rejecting, with full knowledge and consent, the salvation which He offers. Let us remember that Jesus Christ is a very good Son and that He does not permit that we offend and despise His Most Holy Mother. We have recorded through many centuries of Church history the obvious testimony which demonstrates, by the terrible chastisements which have befallen those who have attacked the honour of His Most Holy Mother, how Our Lord Jesus Christ has always defended the honour of His Mother. [Please note this especially! And consider the evil blasphemy against the Virgin of Fatima by Pope Francis. Remarks which have not so far been corrected by any other prelate.]

Look, Father, the Most Holy Virgin in these last times in which we live has given a new efficacy to the recitation of the Rosary to such an extent that there is no problem, no matter how difficult it is, whether temporal or, above all, spiritual, in the personal life of each one of us, of our families, of the families of the world, or of the religious communities, or even of the life of peoples and nations that cannot be solved by the Rosary. There is no problem I tell you, no matter how difficult it is, that we cannot resolve by the prayer of the Holy Rosary. With the Holy Rosary, we will save ourselves. We will sanctify ourselves. We will console Our Lord and obtain the salvation of many souls.

Finally, devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Our Most Holy Mother, consists in considering Her as the seat of mercy, of goodness and of pardon, and as the certain door by which we are to enter Heaven.

Frère Michel de la Sainte Trinité: “In December of 1957, even before the death of Pius XII, Our Lady’s messenger already foresaw the grave crisis the Church would have to face. ”

†  †  †

The faith of many has grown cold. And many are the imposters, who seek to capitalize on the message of Fatima for their own aggrandizement.  They see others “getting away with it” and think, “Why not? Who’s to stop me?” And as always with those duped by the Father of Lies, they are partially right. Yet we know that even though there may be no one to stop them in this life, there will be, quite literally, hell to pay in the next life. We must pray for them.

Readers, please keep in mind through all that is soon to come, there is yet a fourth portion to Our Lady of the Rosary’s Great Secret and we must keep it foremost in our thoughts so as not to be disheartened in the darkness and confusion.  This essential fourth part is of course,   her magnificent triumph. Our Lord will show His true mercy for all to see: the triumphant renewal of the Faith through the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The reign of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, King  will be ushered in by devotion to the Immaculata. And we are her children! Apostles of her Immaculate Heart! And so, we hold fast to her through the means she has graciously given to us, her Rosary and her brown Scapular of Mount Carmel, that our faith may not fail.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of our hearts, Mother of the Church, do thou offer to the Eternal Father the Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, for the conversion of poor sinners, especially our Pontiff.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy Kingdom come, Viva Cristo Rey!

St. Joseph, guardian of the Holy Family, protect our families, protect our priests!

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.

~ by evensong for love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, King.
Vouchsafe that I may praise thee, O Sacred Virgin! Give me strength against thine enemies!

The Supernatural Politics of God

Devotion to the Sacred Heart is far from being a mere private devotion — it is intensely political and as such is inseparable from devotion to. Christ the King. As you read the following repost on the political aspects of devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, think a bit on how extensive the damage to so many nations, so many cultures degraded and souls destroyed — and all could have been prevented by such a simple devotion!

Today we consider a neglected aspect of devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, that is, its political aspect.  For this essay, I am indebted to a favorite author, Solange Hertz.  In her book, “Utopia Nowhere“,  Solange Hertz proves the importance of the political aspect in a most elegant manner, beginning with her assertion that devotion to the Sacred Heart was established on Golgotha when the Roman Centurion Longinus plunged his lance into the Heart of Jesus, the Heart of “The King of the Jews”, as Pilate’s notice proclaimed.

Longinus, the official representative of the ruling power, thereby performed a political act which stands to this day as a necessary reminder of the battle between the dark powers that rule this world and the power of Christ the King:

Devotion to His Sacred Heart is therefore no sentimental devotion to be pursued only in private. Essentially, it is a political commitment. The Sacred Heart of Christ the King is source and center of the Christian state, human manifestation of the divine Monarchy from which all monarchy takes its name. Its temporal dimensions extend into eternity. Only when viewed from this perspective can the true purpose of Sacred Heart devotion be discerned. Otherwise it is simply a super-excellent practice among many others designed by God to bring the individual into greater intimacy with Him.

Sacred Heart devotion does this, to be sure, but its objective is ultimately and fundamentally political in the real sense of the word politics. It was forged by the divine Wisdom to bring not only the individual, but whole nations into intimacy with God. [“Utopia Nowhere”].

Although devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus was evident throughout the long history of the Church, and especially in the lives of many of the mystics of the Church in the Middle Ages, it was not until Our Lord’s revelations to the Visitation nun, Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque in 1689 that we began to see the vigorous political thrust of the Sacred Heart.  From Hertz:

The substance of our Lord’s message had been conveyed in six letters written by St. Margaret Mary, five of them to her former Superior, Mother de Saumaise, and the last one to her Jesuit spiritual director, Fr. Croiset. The second letter, dated June 17, 1689, begins by speaking of some great political designs of our Lord:

Behold this Heart which has so loved men…

… which can be executed only by His almighty power … It seems to me He wishes to enter with pomp and magnificence into the homes of princes and kings so as to be honored there to the same degree that He was outraged, despised and humiliated in His Passion, and to receive as much pleasure on seeing the world’s great ones reduced and humbled before Him as He felt bitterness on seeing Himself reduced to nothing at their feet.

And here are the words I heard regarding our King: ‘Inform the eldest son of My Sacred Heart that … he will secure his birth into grace and glory by the consecration he will make of himself to My adorable Heart … and through his mediation, that of the great ones of the earth. He (the Sacred Heart) wishes to reign in his palace, to be painted on his standards and to be graven on his arms to render them victorious over all his enemies, by bringing these proud, arrogant heads under his heel and effect his triumph over all the enemies of the Church.’

There were other requests. In the saint’s fifth letter, dated August 28 of the same year, she says our Lord desired a building to be erected in which would be displayed an image of the divine Heart, to which the King and his entire court would formally consecrate themselves. The King, furthermore, chosen by our Lord as “His faithful friend,” was to ensure that a special Mass in His honor would be authorized by the Holy See and a formal cultus established.

In return the King was promised divine protection against his “enemies, both visible and invisible.” It is now known that these invisible enemies were the occult forces of Freemasonry set into motion by the “merchants of light.” Already they had crossed the Channel from England and were gathering strength in France. And speaking of channels, our Lord made it clear that the Jesuit Fr. de la Chaize, Louis XIV’s confessor, had been chosen by God to see to the execution of His designs.

The Role of the Jesuits

St Margaret Mary explained, “By virtue of the power He had given him [Father de la Chaize], over the heart of our great King, the success of the matter depended on him.” And yet, incredibly, even Jesuit scholars have determined that Fr. de la Chaize never relayed Our Lord’s message to the King.  Hertz suggests that it was Jesuit obedience that withheld him, as it is known that the Father General, Fr. Thyrsus Gonzalez de Santalla was hostile to devotion to the Sacred Heart, as it is documented that he censured and banished  Father Croiset, St. Margaret Mary’s devout confessor for having written an account of the revelations.

To what can we describe such a thing? It seems another instance of the workings of the mystery of iniquity. Thus, the devotion so dear to Our Lord was allowed to languish, and the cause was simply obedience to disobedience. This has worked so well for the ancient enemy, sad to say.

Hertz affirms that the tradition of the French Visitation nuns holds it for certain that Louis XIV did nevertheless learn of the desires of the Sacred Heart through other sources. We know that Louis XIV was already privately practicing the devotion as preached by St. John Eudes, to whom he had allocated 2000 pounds for France’s first chapel to be dedicated to the Sacred Heart. Hertz is certain that the King would have, as piety dictated, submitted St. Margaret Mary’s requests to his spiritual director for approval, with a view to acting on them, but it is clear that no approval was given. Once again, obedience to those who are disobedient to Christ.

In her essay, Hertz stresses an important point, “The divine communications had been directed to Louis XIV’s person [as Monarch], but not to him as an individual. Had this been the case the extraordinary means used would have been entirely disproportionate. It was Louis as King who was addressed.” What we are to understand from this is that God made a request of the French Monarch, not a personal request to one single person, King Louis XIV, but to the French Monarchy to re-establish the ancient and sacred compact between the French Monarchy and the Church. instituted by King Clovis. Let’s delve a bit deeper here, for this has significance for us today.

Fr. Bainvel, theologian of the Sacred Heart, writes:

“The three objects of the message [of the Sacred Heart]: the church, the consecration, the flag are by their very nature national, durable and perpetual; the triumph over the enemies of God and the Church resulting from the accomplishment of the message is even more national, inasmuch as it involves the whole future of France and her providential Catholic mission, her vocation and her raison d’ être.”

In the person of the King all his successors and the nation itself are addressed. The entire court was to take part in the consecration. God’s gifts being without repentance, no time limit was set, and presumably God still waits. Thus, we see that Our Lord Jesus Christ still awaits the obedience of the French Monarch to His demands, as He awaits the obedience of the Pope and Bishops to the demands of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, His most Beloved Mother.

Why the King of France?

The Month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

For love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we offer this essay of Solange Hertz, from her book (highly recommended!), The Thought of Their Heart, on Devotion to the Sacred Heart and the Holy Rosary”.

The Open Heart

by Solange Strong Hertz

“I will reveal My love to them more and more …”

The history of devotion to the Sacred Heart is in a very real sense a gradual revelation of the secret life of the Church. Its prologue, written in the heart of St. John as he reclined against the Lord’s breast at the Last Supper, broadcasts its first rhythms to the world, setting the tempo for the dramatic rending on Calvary. Veneration for the wound inflicted there seems to have been the initial form of the cult among the faithful. From this wound, the “door in the ark,” there gradually issued the proliferation of grace we now know as Sacred Heart devotion, ramifying and increasing through time, space and circumstance to fit all the needs and conditions of worshippers truly seeking intimacy with their Lord.

It elicited tears of repentance, prompted praise, encouraged confident petition and proffered earth’s reparation to heaven for its sins against Love. For centuries the movement developed quietly in the privacy of religious houses and the souls of gifted individuals until it permeated the whole Church in ranks both clerical and lay. In addition to the saints already mentioned, among its devotees must be numbered St. Anselm, St. Frances of Rome, St. Lawrence Justinian, St. Bernardine of Siena, St. Joan of Valois, St. Peter of Alcantara, St. Fidelis of Sigmaringen, St. Antoninus, St. Peter Canisius, St. Francis de Sales— to list but a few of those canonized. Others who spread its benefits are legion. Carthusians, Franciscans, Benedictines, Dominicans, each produced its particular “school” of spirituality based on affection for the wounded Heart of the Savior. The wealth of art, literature, and liturgy both canonical and popular which has come down to us on the subject attests to its vigor and sanctifying power.

Not surprisingly, it was St. John Eudes, the apostle of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, who was instrumental in directing modern piety towards the Heart of her Son. Called by Pope St. Pius X “initiator, teacher and apostle of the liturgical cult of the Sacred Heart,” he had begun by drawing heavily on the writings of the old Cologne Carthusians so as to establish the cult on solid theological ground. By 1672 he had succeeded in obtaining ecclesiastical approval for a Mass of the Sacred Heart to be celebrated in the communities of his own Order, the Congregation of Jesus and Mary.

The very next year, on the feast of St. John the Apostle, December 27, 1673, the torrents of private revelations converged explosively in the Visitation convent at Paray-le-Monial in France. It was there that our Lord, appearing to the humble young nun, St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, chose to set the seal of divine approval on what had until then been a most salutary practice in the Church, but which nevertheless remained a private affair— a kind of “inside track” for fleeter spirits. Our Lord had once told St. Gertrude:

“Whenever you desire to obtain anything from Me, offer Me My Heart, which I have so often given you as a token of our mutual friendship, in union with the love which made Me become man for the salvation of men; and I give you this special mark of friendship, … “

After four great apparitions in Paray from 1673 to 1675, … devotion to the Sacred Heart was soon to be enjoined upon all. If we are to believe the words of St. John the Apostle and the ancient prophets concerning the Heart of God, we who are living three hundred years later must be about to witness nothing less than the last moments of the world. “In the latter days you shall understand these things,” promised Jeremiah. “The THOUGHTS of HIS HEART to all generations: to deliver their souls from death and feed them in famine” (Introit, Mass of the Sacred Heart).

The First Novena, 2019

And so we close the month of Mary. We began with the beautiful post – do you remember it? “The Canticle of Mary, Spouse of God“. In it, we celebrated our Immaculate Mother, Spouse of the Holy Ghost, whose perfect and pure obedience brought us our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The wisdom of the Liturgy places the Queenship of Mary at the close of May, to serve as a reminder that she truly reigns over the Church, despite the current apostasy.

Today, however, we also anticipate the coming of the Holy Ghost at Pentecost, “The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the most High shall overshadow thee…”  In the same way that Christ chose to enter into humanity through Mary, He chose her to preside over the coming of the Holy Ghost at Pentecost.  And so we see these two, the Third Person of the Holy Trinity and His Spouse, the Immaculate Virgin Mary are again united in a great work, the sanctification of the Church. As was before, so shall it be.

It is fitting that the very first Novena of the Church should be the Novena to the Holy Ghost which was initiated by Mary, Mother of Jesus Christ, Mother of the Church as she gathered the Apostles and Disciples in the Cenacle to prepare for the coming of the Paraclete as Jesus had promised. For Mary is not only Mother of the Savior, she is the Spouse of the Holy Ghost, And so we see that the Church is born of the love which God the Father, Son and Holy Ghost have for Man and this great love is the Holy Church, for we are born in love and it is by this great love that we are sustained.

Satan rejoices at our bitterness and dissension in these dark times. We do well to turn from all of it and renew our souls in the beauty of this great love of the Most Holy Trinity for the Blessed Mother and all her children, the Church. And so we offer this beautiful, loving meditation, this Novena of Love, Novena of the Holy Ghost.

At the Ascension of Our Lord, think how Mary felt, watching her beloved Son and Savior vanish from sight and knowing the long hard task before her. The “Mother of the Church” is not some hollow honorific, but has been earned in suffering which surpasses all telling. As she waited, with the Apostles and Disciples, for the promised  coming of the Holy Ghost, her thoughts returned to the start, and she heard again the Angel’s message,

“The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the most High shall overshadow thee. And therefore also the Holy which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” (Luke 1, 35)

And now, she, our true Mother, Mother of the Church, invites us to watch and pray with her for the coming of the Holy Ghost, the Love of God which prepares us to endure this last most intensive attack on the Church not only from enemies outside the Church but those most treacherous disciples of Judas occupying the seats of power within the Church.  Continue reading “The First Novena, 2019”

He Goes Before Us

“I go to prepare a place for you. And if I shall go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to Myself, that where I am, you also may be.” (John, 14, 2, 3)

Our reading for today, the Feast of the Ascension of Christ into Heaven is taken from Archbishop Fulton Sheen, in his “Life of Christ”.

O Jesus, my treasure, Thou art ascended to Heaven and taken my heart with Thee!

His sacrifice being completed, as He was about to ascend to His Heavenly throne, He raised His hands bearing the imprint of nails. That gesture would be one of the last recollections the Apostles would have, save one. The hands were raised first to heaven and then pulled downward to earth as if to draw down its blessings on men. Pierced hands best distribute benediction.

In the Book of Leviticus, after the reading of the prophetical promise of the Messias, there came the high priestly benediction; so too, after showing that all prophecies were fulfilled in Him, He prepared to enter the heavenly sanctuary. Hands that held the sceptre of authority in heaven and on earth now gave the final blessing:

“And even as He blessed them He parted from them, and was carried up into heaven…”  Luke 24:51   “And is seated now at the right Hand of God.” Mark 16:19 “So they bowed down to worship Him, And went back full of joy to Jerusalem, Where they spent their time continually In the temple, praising and blessing God.” Luke 24:52, 53

Had Christ remained on earth, sight would have taken the place of faith. In heaven, there will be no faith because His followers will see; there will be no hope, because they will possess; but there will be love for love endureth forever! His leave-taking of the earth combined the Cross and the Crown that governed the smallest detail of His life. The Ascension took place on Mount Olivet at the base of which is Bethany. He led His Apostles out through Bethany, which meant passing through Gethsemane and the very spot where He wept over Jerusalem.

Not as from a throne, but from a mountain elevated above the garden with the twisted olive trees crimsoned with His Blood, did He give the final manifestation of His Divine power! His heart was not embittered by His Cross, for the Ascension was the fruit of His Crucifixion. Continue reading “He Goes Before Us”
