Dispelling Confusion?

Note: Post edited for clarity 9:00 am.

Have you heard of  Cardinal Raymond Burke’s crusade to Storm Heaven with a goal to “dispel confusion” and “flood souls with Grace and Light and Truth”? I had not kept up with the Rosary Warriors in some time, but some readers asked about it recently and there are some differences in the good Cardinal’s initiative and what I have asserted here as regards to the message of Fatima.

Regarding “Catholic Action for Faith and Family”.

I’m not familiar with Catholic Action, but I do have great respect for the good Cardinal, and this article is only my friendly attempt to keep the focus on the true message of Fatima, which appears to have become lost in much of the verbiage of our few remaining faithful prelates, such as Cardinal Burke.

Now, Cardinal Burke, bless his heart, knows very well that Our Lady of Fatima requested the establishment and propagation of the First Saturdays of Reparation and also asked for the Consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart, performed by the Pope and Bishops, in fact, his site states that very fact:

“The Blessed Mother revealed at Fatima an act of reparation that would remove the thorns which pierce her heart by the blasphemies and ingratitude of men: “On the first Saturday of five consecutive months, go to Confession and receive Holy Communion, recite the Rosary and keep me company for 15 minutes while meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary with the intention of making reparation to me.” This act of reparation is still indisputably relevant for us today.

“…The consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart did not take place, as she requested, and the Communion of Reparation on the First Saturdays did not become the practice of the universal Church. There ensued the terrible suffering of the Second World War and its aftermath, the spread of atheistic communism, resulting, in fact, in the persecution of many nations and of the Church in those nations, and the annihilation of some nations.”
-Cardinal Raymond Burke

Cardinal Burke most admirably admits that neither the First Saturdays nor the Consecration have taken place. That is a stupendous step towards obeying Our Lady of the Rosary! I am so very grateful for that, coming from such a loyal prince of the Church and I offer many prayers for his continued work on behalf of Our Lady’s true message. But then, after he asserts that her requests have not been obeyed, what next?

Well, actually not very much. In point of fact, Cardinal Burke has a wildly successful initiative (more than 1 million followers, I believe), called “Operation Storm Heaven” in which his “Rosary Warriors” commit to Rosary and Mass on, not First Saturdays, but on the first day of the month. Why not the First Saturdays? I have asked that before, but still no answer.  But if Cardinal Burke were to lead his million followers to obey the true message of Fatima and make the First Saturdays of Reparation, just think what Our Lady would do for our poor Church. She is asking for so little, so why not First Saturdays? Can we expect good results from disobedience?

Similarly, although Cardinal Burke acknowledges the fact that the Consecration of Russia has not been performed, no remedy is suggested. This omission leaves the impression that nothing can be done at this point, but we know that no matter how few souls remain after the culmination of the material and spiritual chastisements, Russia will be Consecrated as Our Lady requested. And then, the (by now) very brief period of peace which she has promised will result. Why could he not recommend his followers pray and offer penance for the Consecration?  The sooner it is accomplished, the sooner we will have peace.

There is something more that I simply do not understand. Cardinal Burke says,

“…The recovery of peace will be a gift from Heaven, but it is not, properly speaking, the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Her victory is of another order, supernatural, and then temporal by addition. It will first be the victory of the Faith, which will put an end to the time of apostasy, and the great shortcomings of the Church’s pastors.”

I have been back over the Novena for Our Lady of Fatima on Cardinal Burke’s site, but cannot find where he quotes Our Lady saying that the recovery of peace will be a gift from heaven, but not, properly speaking, the triumph of her Immaculate Heart, as he asserts above. Indeed, it seems the contrary is stated by Our Lady.

Now, I did see, in Day 1 of the Novena, the reflection contains the quote from Our Lady, “You have seen hell where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart.” Immediately following that short quote, a meditation by Cardinal Burke appears. I wondered what the remainder of that short quote consists in so I looked it up. The quote continues,

“If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace. The war is going to end, but if people do not cease offending God, a worse one will break out during the reign of Pius XI. « When you see a night illumined by an unknown light, know that this is the great sign given you by God that He is about to punish the world for its crimes, by means of war, famine and persecutions against the Church and the Holy Father. To prevent this, I shall come to ask for the consecration of Russia to My Immaculate Heart, and the Communion of Reparation on the First Saturdays.

If My requests are heeded, Russia will be converted and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions against the Church. The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer, various nations will be annihilated.

In the end, My Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to Me, and she will be converted, and a certain period of peace will be granted to the world. (Frere Michel de la Sainte Trinite. The Whole Truth about Fatima – Vol I)

Now, readers, you know that the tagline for this blog is just that, “In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph.” We know that God desires to dispense His graces to us through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Mediatrix of Grace. When she states clearly that in the end, her Immaculate Heart will triumph; she follows that with the result of her triumph, that is, the obedience of the Pope and Bishops in finally consecrating Russia and then she ties that to a period of peace being granted to the world.

To assert that, “Her victory is of another order, supernatural, and then temporal by addition”, appears petty and pedantic.  There is no danger of her children raising her above the God we all adore and serve. We know that the only merit Our Lady has and her only rationale in her Message of Fatima, is that she comes to us as a servant of God. As Sacred Scripture tells us, she is the Handmaid of the Lord. The requests she makes at Fatima will bear fruit when finally the required devotions are accomplished and the Pope and Bishops humbly act to obey God’s will and consecrate Russia as requested by God through the Immaculata. The result as she herself affirms will be the conversion of Russia and a period of peace.

Others with greater skills have pointed out that the post-conciliar church often appears to comply with the message of Fatima, but by omitting certain points and by adding in other devotions and subjects, manages to dissipate the true message with the inevitable result that Our Lady’s true message gets lost in the verbiage, and her requests are not obeyed. Thus, instead of clarity, confusion is spread.

Good Cardinal Burke’s site affirms that his spiritual crusade’s goal is to “dispel confusion” and to “flood souls with Grace and Light and Truth” and so I hope these comments of mine will contribute to that end as well.

Thank you for reading. I pray for you always,
